(Chicago Hybrid) The Staff Writer will research, edit, and write compelling fundraising and partnership proposals and stewardship reports. As a staff writer, you will have the opportunity to bring life and storytelling to our programs within the pillars of our organization’s work through compelling written pieces. In this position, the staff writer will work with the philanthropy team, senior management, and members of our Israel staff. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Brand Marketing and Creative Strategy and will be based in our downtown Chicago office. We are a hybrid work environment.

We are seeking an individual with a Bachelor’s degree in English or Communications, or the equivalent experience. Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a writer or copywriter. Individuals with bilingual skills in both English and Hebrew would be preferred, but not required. A Master’s degree is preferred, but not required. Prior proposal writing experience for both Christian and Jewish audiences is also preferred. The position requires occasional day and overnight air travel, as well as potential, limited international travel.

Technical and Individual Skills:

· Knowledge of and interest in Israel and Judaism and the ability to write to an evangelical Christian audience.

· Experience using research methods and journalistic standards.

· Intermediate proficiency level in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point).

· Outstanding communication skills, particularly the ability to write efficiently and concisely.

· Mastery of the English language, grammar, and spelling.

· Ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks with strict publication deadlines.

· Self-motivated, highly creative, with a strong ability to work both in a team setting and independently.

· Strong attention to detail; strong analytical skills with the ability to extract pertinent information from large amounts of data.
