ABOUT THE JOB

The Junior Welder will perform all job duties under constant oversight from an experienced Welder. In addition to performing stick and tig welding, the Staff Welder, under supervision of an experienced welder, will be able to perform and assist in welding tasks such as fit‐up, preparation, repair, inspection, and post weld preparation. A Junior Mechanical Welder will also be asked to assist with general site work such as loading and unloading equipment and materials, site clean‐up and preparation, mobilization, and demobilization to and from the jobsite and other duties as assigned. The Junior Welder must be willing to travel as needed for projects. As Tepa continues to grow, we are focusing on hiring recent graduates to begin their careers at our organization with opportunities to receive hands-on learning, mentorship, and growth within the company. This is an entry level position that does not require previous experience but does require a certification from an accredited school.

This position will be a traveling position. In addition to competitive pay, we offer a complete benefits package to include medical, dental and vision insurance, long-term and short-term disability, group life, AD&D insurance coverage. Daily per diem will be provided while working on a project.

  • Follows welding procedure specifications when welding.
  • Performs quality welds to be able to pass radiographic interpretation.
  • Performs quality welds using various welding processes.
  • Assists with fit‐up and preparation of welds.
  • Performs or assists with post weld cleanup and repair.
  • Communicates regularly with the Field Foreman regarding issues and concerns on the job site.
  • Inspects all materials, equipment, and tools required to perform the work.
  • Maintains supplies, equipment, and tools.
  • Prepares the materials by clamping, cutting, or applying chemical solutions to piping.
  • Examines completed welds to ensure they are free of defects, smooth, and functional.
  • Observes all safety regulations.
  • Complies with all HMT safety policies and programs.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Welding Certification from accredited school
  • Working knowledge of AWS, API, ANSI, and ASME Codes and Standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and strong attention to detail.
  • Physical dexterity
  • Must have, or be able to acquire, a current passport.
  • Must be willing to travel to different project sites.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to gain access to federal installations.
  • Must be able to pass 2, 3, 4G plate test.
  • Must be able to work towards and pass a 6G pipe test within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Must be able to perform both stick and tig welds on both carbon & stainless-steel pipe.
  • Must understand how to read prints and written instructions.
  • Must be able to read technical procedures and materials.
  • Must be able to follow verbal directions.
