This position gathers and provides staffing information and facilitates the proper placement of resource and float staff based on skill level and experience. This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Gathers census/acuity/productivity/staffing information and enters it into a computer.

  • Ensures the accuracy of information such as changes in unit schedules, reassignment of staff, and use of resource staff.

  • Facilitates and contacts resource staff when unit/department staff needs exceeds resources available.

  • Reviews schedules of nursing units for appropriateness of staffing needs and reviews information with nurse managers.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.

  • Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.

  • This position has the authority to perform daily work routines within the scope of the unit's standards of performance.

  • This position has the authority to facilitate the resource staffing placement in collaboration with charge nurses by using staffing grids and patient care as a primary tool for placement.

  • Challenges encountered by the incumbent include prioritizing the work load requirements of the day while maintaining the needs of the department/unit.

  • Ability to make placement decisions when unit/department staff needs exceeds resources available.

Qualifications

Qualifications Required

  • Two years of general clerical experience, or equivalency.

  • This is a sedentary position in an office setting that may exert up to 10 pounds and may lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. This position involves sitting most of the time and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
