Staff Support Technician, GI Lab

• This is a "Resource Team/Per Diem" position. That means that there are not set hours per week, they are as needed. It does not qualify for employee health benefits.
• All hours are during the day 7am - 4 pm, Monday - Friday. There are no evenings or weekend hours. If you are looking for a position after school or on the weekends, you will want to look for another SST position at NorthShore.

What you will do:
The Staff Support assists the clinical team in the GI Lab with various duties that may include:

• Responds to the immediate needs of the patient by answering patient call lights promptly and courteously.
• As directed, by RN, makes hourly or more frequent rounds on patients for safety, comfort, and meeting patients' needs/requests
• Positions, lifts, transfers, and ambulates patients as directed by the RN
• Assist with setting up meals for patients and ordering meals
• Keeps patient rooms tidy, refreshes patient's linen as need, removes unnecessary equipment and linen
• Assists patient with simple hygiene/comfort measures such as washing hands/face and oral care
• As directed by the RN, transports patient to other departments or when patient being discharge
• When directed by the RN, remains with the patient continuously for patient safety.
• Handles infectious waste and linen according to established hospital procedure
• Adheres to proper infection control standards and hand washing techniques to avoid cross contamination
• Cleans and disinfects unit specific equipment
• "Runner" to other departments, when needed to obtain necessary items for patient care
