Job description

Come join our amazing Program Control team! The Program Control Section (PCS) is responsible for fiscal and program control activities for the Division of Engineering (DOE) and the Department of Water Resources (DWR) Enterprise financial activities in construction contract payments as well as Architectural and Engineering (A&E) Buyers functions. PCS plays a lead role in the management of DOE's planning and budgeting activities and oversees many specific budget areas. PCS serves as an informational and training hub for the functions in its business area and coordinates closely with other divisions and program control groups throughout DWR.
Under the general direction of the PCS Manager, the Staff Services Manager I will supervise analytical staff performing financial activities related to buyers functions, construction contract payments, as well as assist in planning and monitoring divisional budgets. As a working-level supervisor, independently perform the most difficult and sensitive work assignments related to the division's interactions on financial management activities of the State Water Project and other DWR divisions and programs.

Special Requirements
Must possess a valid California driver's license when conducting State business that requires driving a vehicle. Travel to field offices may require overnight travel.
Must be able to maintain and handle sensitive information confidentially, tactfully and professionally. The activities require a broad background in fiscal disciplines such as accounting and budgeting as they relate to State Service and the Department in general as well as a strong technical understanding of current computer hardware and software applications, particularly Microsoft Excel and Access.
Good communication skills, both oral and written, are essential.
