Who We Are

Our all-women’s campus provides a safe place to heal with a treatment team that leads our program in a serene, 36-acre campus overlooking a pond where women can connect to nature, themselves, and one another, unburdened. Located just outside of Birmingham, Alabama, our eating disorder treatment center provides care to adolescent girls (ages 12 to 17) and adult women (ages 18 and older) who struggle with feeding or eating disorders.

Dually licensed as an eating disorder center as well as a mental health treatment center, Magnolia Creek can tailor a dual diagnosis program for co-occurring mental health conditions including mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), attachment disorder, dissociative disorders, and personality disorders.

Columbiana is commutable from Shelby, Calera, Chelsea, Montevallo, Alabaster, Pelham, and commute is against traffic from Birmingham area.

 

How You Will Make a Difference

The Staff Nurse provides general medical care for clients at Magnolia Creek Treatment Center for Eating Disorders, under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager, including completing assessments, administering and ordering/refilling medications per physician's orders, reviewing the physicians' orders and medical record reviews, recording complaints, observing client behavior and collecting/reviewing lab samples/results.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Completes comprehensive nursing assessments during intake of clients at MCTCED collecting data that will aid in the development of a treatment plan for the clients. Reviews physicians' orders and medical records of clients.
  2. Administers medications, ordering/refilling medications per physicians' orders.
  3. Records complaints, observes behaviors and reports these to the Medical Director.
  4. Collects labs, reviews lab reports and records and reports findings to the Medical Director.
  5. Assists new clients with adapting to their new environment, providing social and emotional support throughout their stay, while maintaining appropriate personal/professional interaction. Assists all clients and staff in immediate problem solving/intervention during crisis.
  6. Updates and reviews client's treatment plans and privileges list on a weekly basis.
  7. Responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment in the Nurses Stations and practicing universal precautions.
  8. Responsible for the security of the medications and medical records and ensures that only relevant providers will have access.
  9. Determines the presence of unhealthy/unsafe conditions in the work area and reports these conditions to the proper personnel.
  10. Ensures that proper documentation is completed in an accurate, thorough and timely manner.
  11. Attends staff meetings and trainings as required and leads Health and Wellness group as needed.
  12. Responsible for understanding and adhering to all policies and procedures relating to medical interventions (e.g. Medication Error Reporting, Ancillary Services, etc.).
  13. Provides shift coverage protocols, ensuring that proper coverage is maintained, while providing quality care to our clients.
  14. Responsible for proper and accurate shift hand-off information between shifts.
  15. Assists with the daily teaching and discharge planning of the clients and documenting accordingly.
  16. Assists in developing new and creative marketing strategies and presenting those strategies to the Executive Director for review. Participates in marketing opportunities as needed.
  17. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications related to Magnolia Creek Mission and population.

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Functions within the guidelines of the facility's Code of Ethics and in accordance with corporate compliance.
  2. Assists in promoting and ensuring that the mission, goals and objectives of MCTCED are understood and actively supported by the employees.
  3. Provides a high level of customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Accomplishes organization mission by completing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

 

Education and Experience

Associate degree or bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of Nursing or higher; Current Alabama Nursing License (RN or LPN); 1-year clinical experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Availability

The PRN status requires that staff work three shifts per month, one of them being a Saturday or Sunday shift, in order to maintain employment status.
