Our Dallas Water Resource and Transportation Group assists in Transportation Drainage: roadway, street, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, stormwater management, infrastructure design, utility engineering and transportation PS&E packages for public infrastructure projects, and Water Resources: Master plans, capital improvement projects, flood hazard studies, etc. This Staff Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Drainage design for transportation projects, such as roads and bridges, including hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, riverine and urban systems, regional drainage studies, and FEMA LOMCs.
- Roadway and street design for City and local municipalities.
- Development of preliminary plans through final construction plans and specifications in accordance with TxDOT and local municipalities standards.
- Design of highway storm drainage systems.
- May assume leadership and supporting roles in project assignments.
- Coordinate and manage daily activities/scheduling of various assigned projects.
- Communicate and interact effectively with project team members.
- Hydrologic and Hydraulic modeling in support of FEMA floodplain studies, risk and hazard analyses, and flood mitigation studies.
- GIS processing for H&H model creation and mapping product development.
- Municipal stormwater design support.
- Bridge scour assessments.
- Dam inundation modeling.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS degree in Civil Engineering, or a closely related engineering field
- 2 years of civil engineering experience focused on water resources related work and involving hydrologic and hydraulic analysis (experience can be pre- or post-degree).
- The stated experience must include 1 year with the following: (1) performing water surface analysis using HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D, 2D), XPSWMM; (2) working with hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) models such as GeoPak Drainage, HY-8, Win TR-55, HEC-HMS GeoPak drainage; and (3) and working with DOT roadway drainage and/or bridge/culvert design.
- Eligible to telecommute up to 2 days/week from a home office within normal commuting distance of the Dallas office.
