Job Summary:The Staff Development Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating a wide range of training opportunities for the OPWDD program, as well as developing the employees' knowledge and skills to enable them to fulfill our Statement of Purpose and adhere to OPWDD rules and regulations. The staff in this role will provide initial training of OPWDD new hires, on-the-job training support to current staff and re-certification training as necessary. The key performance indicators in this role will be increased employee retention and satisfaction.Essential Job Duties:-Plan, coordinate and facilitate all OPWDD new hire orientation sessions upon HR notification of incoming new hires.

This will include:Train new OPWDD employees in program required curriculum including but not limited to: Therap, Medical Immobilization and Protective Stabilization (MIPS), DSP Code of Ethics/DSP Core Competencies, Understanding Developmental Disabilities, SCIP-R, CPRCommunicate work schedules to new OPWDD employees (including all position specific required training)Coordinate instructors for OPWDD related training and their content for presentation-Track and upload OPWDD new hire orientation checklists, New Hire Onboarding checklists, license/certification documents (CPR, Med Certification, DSP Core Competency Evaluations, etc...) and completion of mandatory training requirements in Therap and Relias LMS.-Create Therap User Account for new employees in OPWDD Orientation, assign all applicable training courses and assign to appropriate DD Management and Nursing staff.-Update content of training curriculum and delivery methods to improve transfer of knowledge to job performance.-Develop OPWDD Annual Training calendar in conjunction with agency training department.-Assign all required training plans and sign up all new OPWDD hires to sessions in Relias.-Review monthly Relias training reports to ensure OPWDD employees are in compliance with required trainings and certifications.-Evaluate training effectiveness and adherence to training within the worksite.-Support new OPWDD Supervisor training, including updating the Supervisor Training Manual, as needed.-Work collaboratively with Residential Managers, Residential Support Managers and DSPs to ensure program trainings enhance agency culture and align with agency values, providing improvement suggestions to management and staff are prepared, supported and empowered to provide excellent care to the individuals we serve.-In collaboration with Human Resource Department, identify and update on-line training and HR resources including but not limited to: performance management documents, OPWDD training manuals, course content and checklists.-Communicate to Agency Training Department and program supervisors when gaps in skills or competence are identified.-Facilitate the recertification process of current employees in SCIP-R and CPR.-Collaborate with Agency Training Department on overall training initiatives for the agency -Any other duty as assigned by your Supervisor.Skills:Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite technology, including ability to create and edit in Power PointCaptivate or other eLearning design software (preferred, but not required)Knowledge of adult learning principlesMinimum Education Required:Must meet 1 of the following:Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Learning & Development or related field, one (1) year of experience in training role; ORAssociates degree in Human Resources, Learning & Development or related field, three (3) years of experience in training role; ORTen (10) or more years of work experience in residential settings providing mentoring an guidance to employeesMinimum Experience Required: Planning and coordinating orientation for new OPWDD employees;First-hand experience working in direct care and/or supervisory positions preferred;Facilitation experience;Curriculum development;LMS (Learning Management System) trackingLicense/Registration/ Certifications Required:NYS driver's license, requiredFirst Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Certification (preferred, but not required)CPR for the Professional Rescuer Instructor Certification (preferred, but not required)OPWDD specific :SCIP-R Instructor certification; if does not have this upon hire must commit to pursue certification within 90 days of start dateAdditional Information:-Monday through Friday -Salary Range: $21.35/hour to 28.50/hour (based on relevant years of experience)Training Requirements:-OLVHS New Hire OrientationPhysical Requirements:The constant physical demand of the position is sittingThe frequent physical demands of the position are standing, walking, climbing, talking, hearing, repetitive motions and eye/hand/foot coordination;The occasional physical demands of the position are lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping and feelingEmployment Type: FULL_TIME
