Summary

Project Management involves meeting with the sponsors and stakeholders of projects and programs to plan, design, build, and maintain, capital facilities in an innovative fashion. The Generation, Transmission and Distribution Project Management Organization (GTD-PMO) encompasses three disciplines: Programs, Strategic, and Base, a Project Controls department, and a Construction Management department under one Senior Manager. This position reports to the Programs Team. Our Team is flexible and collaborative to manage emerging projects and programs for an innovative, top-tier electric utility!

As a Construction PM, you will manage construction projects through engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning. You will also manage small- to medium-scale transmission and distribution (T&D) or generation capital construction activities. Manages long- and short-term utility infrastructure development, repair, upgrade and replacement programs and oversees associated projects. You will be able to solve complex problems and work independently as we as act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Responsibilities

  • Specialization: Manages small- to medium-scale transmission and distribution (T&D) or generation capital construction activities. Manages long- and short-term utility infrastructure development, repair, upgrade and replacement programs and oversees associated projects.
  • Program Development and Planning (PPM) May develop program processes, activities and priorities that support long-term strategic asset management, distribution engineering, utility asset management and other engineering goals for small- to medium-scale programs. May identify long-term and short-term resources required to meet program goals, creates strategic actions for program direction, develops and implements new policies for resource management and plans, organizes and implements programs.
  • Project Development and Planning (PPM/PM) Serves as program project manager with responsibility for meeting project goals for safety, budget, schedule, scope, resources, compliance and quality and ensuring projects deliver quality and value to the customer while meeting environmental, cultural and community requirements. Develops overall project plan, including schedule and cost baselines, dependencies, roles and resource requirements and risk mitigation.
  • Project Management Accountable for effectively managing programs/projects to meet goals for safety, budget, schedule, scope, resources, compliance and quality. Determines and applies appropriate project controls; integrates project control processes between various PGE organizations; identifies important and critical cost and schedule issues or concerns to project work groups and assists in resolution. Monitors project activities relating to permitting, engineering, procurement and construction.
  • Stakeholder Engagement (PPM/PM) Communicates project updates via regular stakeholder meetings, formal reports, formal presentations and regular electronic communications; ensures updates achieve effective corporate awareness. Accurately reports on project status, schedules, financials, problems, risks and other significant issues. Resolves customer issues as applicable.
  • Team Leadership (PPM/PM) Leads a multidisciplined matrix team in a safe, cost-effective and responsible manner. Provides staff leadership to team members; ensures effective coordination and collaboration among team members and between PGE stakeholder organizations, outside consultants and vendors. Facilitates team meetings; cultivates and reinforces group values, norms and behaviors; provides guidance and motivation to team on performance and productivity issues; ensures compliance with established project management methodologies and standards; takes corrective action as needed.
  • External Coordination (PPM/PM) Represents and protects PGE's interests in negotiations with government agencies, utilities and property owners and during public meetings. Meets with and keeps agencies and local officials abreast of project status.


Qualifications

Required:

Staff Construction Project Manager, P3:
  • Education: Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, business or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience:Five or more years of experience in project management, construction management or engineering or a related field; utility transmission and distribution experience highly preferred
  • Valid driver's license required


Preferred:
  • Intermediate knowledge and skill in the application of project management principles, processes and best practices.
  • Intermediate knowledge of the principles, concepts and methods used in T&D engineering, construction and maintenance.
  • Intermediate knowledge of construction estimating, project risk management, project scope control and project communication management.
  • Intermediate knowledge of budget and resource forecasting principles and methods.
  • Intermediate knowledge of utility infrastructure.
  • Intermediate knowledge of work management systems, i.e., WMS and Maximo.
  • Intermediate knowledge of utility accounting, procurement and budgeting.
  • Intermediate knowledge of and skill in using MS Project, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint.

Compensation Range:
$87,750.00 - $146,250.00

In addition, this position is eligible for a performance-based incentive bonus. Actual total compensation is commensurate with experience, skills, and education
