Global Action on Gun Violence (GAGV) is looking for a Staff Attorney to join our team. GAGV is the only non-profit organization working with the international community to end gun violence through strategic litigation, human rights work, policy advocacy and messaging. Led by lawyers with decades of experience crafting innovative litigation and policy solutions to gun violence, GAGV stops dangerous gun industry practices to make the world, and the U.S, more safe. The Staff Attorney will be a critical member of our small but mighty team, working closely with the President, COO, CDO, other staff, and our international Advisory Committee.
You will:
- Assist all aspects of litigation for our lawsuits against the gun industry and human rights actions;
- Research potential new lawsuits and gun violence issues, including causes, solutions, laws, the gun industry, and human rights;
- Prepare presentations and reports for international tribunals and organizations, such as the United Nations;
- Write reports, articles, social media, web content, and other materials;
- Support all functions of the organizations, including law, policy, communications, development, website, events and presentations.
You should have:
- Law degree;
- Preferably 3+ years experience in litigation;
- Excellent writing skills (clear, persuasive, credible);
- Top-notch research skills (thorough, persistent, careful);
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively (go it alone, and work with others);
- Superb time management skills (works on a deadline, juggles tasks, plans ahead);
- Team player attitude (willing to chip in where and when needed);
- Commitment to make the world a safer place;
- Spanish skills strongly preferred
- Start date: as soon as position is filled
- Location: GAGV is based in Washington, DC, USA, but staff can be remote or hybrid
