Work Designation. Depending on your location within the continental US, this role may be hybrid or remote.
If you live within 50 miles of the An American Insurance Company offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be hybrid. This means you will be expected to work in the office for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership.
If you live more than 50 miles from the An American Insurance Company offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be remote. This means you will be expected to work from your home, within the continental US. If the role is remote, there may be occasions that you are requested to come to the office based on business need. Any requests to come to the office would be communicated with you in advance.

- Strong legal research skills
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills to effectively interact with legal colleagues, management and customers
Education & Experience Required:
- Juris doctor from an ABA-accredited school of law
- Must be a member of a U.S. state bar, in good standing, or if a recent law school graduate, must be sitting for the next available bar examination.
- Zero to three years of law practice experience in a law firm or corporate setting
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Education & Experience Preferred
Contract and/or Litigation experience

Less than or equal to 10%
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Generally focuses on applying knowledge of one or more legal specialties while developing a deeper knowledge of business operations of the organization
- Researches legal principles and precedents; drafts legal documents
- Gathers relevant case-related information using multiple sources and methods
- Generally receives specific direction from management or more senior law professionals as to the outcomes, process and schedules expected
- Provides advice on legal issues to all levels of management and staff of the Corporation and affiliates; resolves claims and disputes prior to litigation; identifies potential legal issues related to business practices and policies and advise client/ management
- Performs other duties as required
