POSITION SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing financial accounting, operations, grants administration, policies, and procedures for the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Month-End Process: Verify coding and classification of accounts and reconcile bank accounts monthly for accurate financial records.
- Receivables: Ensure accurate coding, verification, and posting of receivable invoices; pay on time with source documentation.
- Grants Management: Efficiently manage grant and contract timelines, match expenses accurately with their respective grants, promptly report time, file timesheets for each grant file to ensure timely reimbursements, and train on HUD Exchange.
- Chart of Accounts: Ensure accurate entry of new accounts into the system with the correct code and description. Update COA for new businesses.
- Grant/Contract Reporting: Periodically provide financial data, including expenditure reports for funding sources.
- Managerial duties: Provide daily support to staff, answering questions and completing payroll for the accounting team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- At least three (3) years of experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Accounting experience working in the non-profit sector.
- Experience with Yardi systems.
- Previous experience with NetSuite.
