JOB SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant will oversee all accounting functions of the hard-money lending department. This includes creating recurring invoices, recording loans in QuickBooks, and creating documents using our templates. Under minimal supervision, responsible for day-to-day and complex accounting activities associated with maintaining general ledger accounts, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. This role is also responsible for developing financial statements and reports.

The Staff Accountant will oversee all accounting functions of the hard-money lending department. This includes creating recurring invoices, recording loans in QuickBooks, and creating documents using our templates. Under minimal supervision, responsible for day-to-day and complex accounting activities associated with maintaining general ledger accounts, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. This role is also responsible for developing financial statements and reports.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and other financial reports
- Create loan documents using templates
- Process payments to investors and record activity in QuickBooks and the Investor Portal
- Record and maintain records of insurance policies
- Conduct regular audits of financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that accounting data is accurate and timely
- Assist with the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- 1 year of experience in an accounting role
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Excel to effectively communicate, report and analyze financial information.
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
