Job Description
Role:
To assist the Credit Union in achieving its Service Mission to deliver Total Member Delight in each and every service interaction with both internal and external members. In addition, to maintain the Credit Union's accounting records and reports, ensuring they are in compliance with generally accepted accounting practices and credit union accounting practices.
Responsibilities:
- Support VP of Accounting in carrying out the responsibilities of the Accounting Department.
- Assist with the day-to-day management of department staff; monitor staff work, train, evaluate, review and recommend to department VP salary adjustments or disciplinary actions.
- Review and verify the accuracy of journal entries through the monthly reconciliation review process.
- Coordinate month end, to include preparation of financial statements and other reporting.
- Complete annual State and IRS regulatory reporting requirements.
- Maintenance of the credit union's general and subsidiary general ledger accounts, by posting and processing journal entries.
- Fixed asset management.
- Complete project assignments as directed by the VP of Accounting.
Knowledge & Skills:
Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education: Bachelors Degree in related field plus 3 years related experience, or Associates Degree in related field plus 5 years relevant experience.
Interpersonal Skills: Work involves contact with persons beyond immediate associates regarding routine matters for the purpose of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (members or vendors), requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.
Other Skills: General knowledge of Accounting concepts.
Experience with automated data processing systems including PC software programs.
Must be able to use all types of general office equipment.
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Professionalism in appearance, dress and attitude a must.
Position Type: Full Time, Exempt
Hours: 40 hours per week
Location: Massena, NY
Current Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8a-5p
Pay Range: $55,380.00 - $63,086.00 annually
Actual starting salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.
