Position Summary: Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Prepares analysis and reconciliations of P&L and balance sheet accounts for Selfhelp and related entities.
- Maintains budgets for all programs.
- Performs general accounting tasks which may include accounts payable tasks, accounts receivable tasks, making bank deposits entries and transfers, maintaining cash journal, and general journal.
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as GL accounts, documenting business transactions.
- Closes the books (general ledger) at month end for Selfhelp and related entities.
- Prepares various analytical review analysis and reports of month end financial information, including a comparison of actual financial information to budgeted financial information. Such comparisons include actual dollar amounts, balances and metrics.
- Responsible for tracking grants/contracts received for the programs responsible for.
- Monitors and tracks grant/contract expenditures on a monthly basis.
- Assists in the yearly budget preparation and maintains budgets for Senior Community Programs as required.
- Interfaces with auditors for year end audit.
- Assists Program Directors in preparing required reporting for all funding sources.
- Prepares monthly and annual financial closeout reports, including budget to actual reports. Reconciles issues.
- Attends monthly P&L meeting with Program Directors.
- Assists Program Directors in preparing required reporting for all funding sources.
- Analyzes financial information detailing expenses, budget allocations, assets, liabilities and capital. Prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statements, trail balance and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position.
- Prepares monthly adjusting journal entries.
- Works on special projects as needed.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
- Adhere to organization’s standards by completing annual mandatory trainings in a timely manner on topics including – but not limited to – Sexual Harassment Prevention Training, IT Security Awareness, Compliance, OSHA, HIPAA and any other training the organization may deem necessary in regards to regulatory compliance or good business practices.

Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000 per year commensurate with experience.
Job Competencies & Minimum Qualifications:
- Educational Requirements – Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- Necessary experience, including supervisory if applicable – two years of related experience.
- Specific software or computer skills; Must be proficient in Word, XL and PowerPoint
- Problem solving abilities while multi-tasking; ability to exercise sound judgment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service and organizational skills
Working Conditions/Physical Demand:
- Business office environment with phone and computer use.
