Staff Accountant, Financial Accounting

Position Summary:Responsible for a wide range of detailed accounting functions, ensuring compliance with company accounting. Primary Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to the following):* File multiple types of taxes so that all requirements are met while avoiding overpayment.* Address tax notices and requests. Communicate with internal and external partners regarding licensing and other tax-related requirements.* Responsible for maintaining various work papers for Income Tax Provision and Return. Seek opportunities to streamline or automate work paper tracking and updating to reduce Tax Accounting fees. * Record, classify, and summarize financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.* Interpret financial transactions and events for users who must make economic or business decisions. Explain accounting transactions and resolve accounting issues and discrepancies.* Provide support during annual financial statement audit. * Prepare and support journal entries and assist with month-end close.* Reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger and resolves differences, and other account analyses and reconciliations.* Assist with accounting and reporting for capital expenditures and compliance with budget authorizations.* Assist with well and lease reporting.* Prepare and maintain documentation and instructions of procedures and work tasks.* Use various software applications, such as spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical packages, and graphic packages to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports.* Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.* Assist with periodic audits of internal controls and annual financial audit.* Other projects and responsibilities as needed.Other:* Solid knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles* Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.* Proficiency in Microsoft Office platform.* Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.* Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with only moderate supervision * Highly detail oriented and organized in work. * Must demonstrate good judgment* Requires good oral and written communication skills. * Communicate in a courteous and professional manner.Job Qualifications (refers to job, not incumbent): Bachelor's Degree in Accounting along with 2-3 years' related accounting experience is required.Certified Public Accountant, or has passed or demonstrated intent to pass CPA examination is preferred.
