STAFF ACCOUNTANT
Our company is looking to hire a Staff Accountant. We are a civil engineering and land surveying firm located in Carlsbad with a diverse range of private and public clients. Job responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Reconciling accounts in the general ledger, bank accounts, notes receivable, loans payable, customer retainers, etc.
- Make adjusting journal entries to adjust accounts
- Will be closing the accounting each month through the financial statements
- Create new jobs in Vision Accounting Software and review Contract for our detailed Accounting Terms
- Ensure Timesheets are completed in a timely manner weekly
- Process Billing Review and work with Project Manager to make appropriate changes and posting to Vision
- Process Invoices based on Billing Review
- Prepare monthly Client Statements
- Responsible for Collections for outstanding client invoices
- Process Accounts Payable
- Process Bank Reconciliations in Vision at month end
- Process Payroll through a third-party Payroll Company
- Respond in a timely manner to vendors, consultants, and staff.
- Assist Supervisor with tasks as needed, special projects
Job Qualifications:

- Have a good understanding and passion for accounting
- Need to know and understand how accounting journals work, and debits and credits
- Have the analytical skills to notice and be able to resolve account balances that are incorrect
- Detail-oriented team player with knowledge and understanding of standard contract terms.
- The ideal candidate desires full-time employment and has 3 to 5 years of experience.
- Experience in understanding project management is a plus.
- Proficient using Deltek Vision software is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Must be able to type at least 45 words per minute
- Candidates should also possess intermediate to advanced computer literacy, including experience in word processing, spreadsheets, and accounting software.
- The candidate must be able to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and see projects through to completion while working as part of a team with multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines.
- Knowledge of General Ledger and the types of g/l accounts
- A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, or 3 to 5 years experience in an accounting department full cycle is required.
