Position Title:Staff Accountant

Location: Works onsite at the Zyris Headquarters based in Goleta, CA

Position Overview:

Zyris is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to support our Accounting team in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. Collaborative work environment with growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

• 
  Financial record-keeping, payroll, balance sheet reconciliations, sales tax reporting.

• Assist in month-end close processes and financial reporting.

• Collaborate for budgeting, forecasting, and compliance & auditing.

• Conduct variance analysis, manage expenses, and drive process improvements.

Performance Expectations & Outcomes:

• Prepare check run reports and ACH templates accurately and timely.

• Post banking deposits with precision and maintain organized records.

• Ensure journal entry support for all transactions and facilitate audits.

• Compile payroll reports and reconcile deductions efficiently.

• Reconcile 401k enrollments, deductions, and medical benefits.

• Accurately calculate holiday, ZTO, and STO hours per pay period.

• Conduct bank reconciliations and manage prepaid expenses.

• Reconcile sales tax liabilities and monitor Nexus thresholds.

• Ensure timely month-end close and review system tax calculations.

• Provide guidance on travel policies and IRS guidelines.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years' experience (minimum) / 5+ years’ experience preferred in Staff Accountant role.

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or other related preferred. CPA preferred.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and corporate accounting principles.

• Experience in conducting audits and / or due diligence process.

• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

• High attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
