Job Functions/Duties and Responsibilites
Staff Accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining the general ledger, and preparing month-end closing procedures. A successful Staff Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. Staff Accountant duties include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all our accounting tasks.
- Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile details of business transactions to GL accounts.
- Reconcile and balance all GL and Bank accounts for CASL and all subsidiaries.
- Responsible for Month-end and year-end close process.
- Review, compile and submit monthly invoices for State and Local Funders according to contract terms.
- Produce and compile accurate accounting reports to show statistics such as cash receipts and expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, profit and loss, and other items pertinent to operation of business.
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
- Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process.
- Assist in the preparation of annual and special project budgets.
- Assist and prepare schedules for external audits to ensure compliance.
- Confirms, maintains, and monitors fixed asset inventory.
- Provides backup to A/R and A/P.
- Assist with development of business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
- Assist with special projects.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP principles.
- Serves as backup for payroll management, processing, and preparation.
- Must maintain appropriate boundaries in the workplace and to work professionally (ethically), especially regarding confidentiality of both residents and employees.
- Interact professionally with residents, co-workers, and vendors. Must be able to maintain tact and professionalism.
- Continuously seek out ways to improve efficiency.
- Check company email while on duty, responding timely, appropriately, and professionally, to communicate internally and externally.
