Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant performs all daily audit procedures to ensure the balance and accuracy of all hotel revenue. Assists the Director of Finance and Assistant Controller with timely and accurate completion of tasks including month end close, direct billing, accounts receivables, data entry, recordkeeping, file maintenance, deposits and provide financial reports for Hotel and other administrative duties as assigned.
This is a full time position eligible for benefits. Hours will generally be Monday through Friday, but will be required to work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed for month end closing.
This is an hourly, nonexempt position that pays $26.00 per hour.

Job Duties:
Income Audit:

• Verify and ensure the accuracy of Front Office, Food & Beverage and other revenue center activities
• Balance on a daily basis the cash, credit card, city ledger, guest ledger and other revenue related accounts
• Review adjustments, miscellaneous charges and related on a daily basis to ensure accuracy and conformity to established procedure, initiate corrective action when necessary, and report deviations to management
• Prepare various daily, weekly and monthly reports/spreadsheets on a timely basis to provide management with accurate and up-to-date information on which to base decisions
• Investigate and correct errors and discrepancies discovered in the audit process
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of audit completion and recommend procedural changes to correct deficiencies
• Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding all corporate and internal accounting, payroll and employee information
• Ensure adherence to all GAAP, Governmental Tax and Stanford Hotel policies and procedures
• Prepare and reconcile Tax/Tax Exempt Spreadsheets on an ongoing basis
• Maintain filing system for daily information, credit cards, restaurant charges, night audit packs, etc.
• Send daily reports to General Manager for signatures

Accounts Receivable:

• Verify accuracy of group master/house account set up in PMS

• Prepare all bills with supporting documentation and review with the Sales or Catering Manager, make changes where necessary and provide final to Sales or Catering Manager for distribution to client - accounts must be closed within 3 business days of review

• Process all applications for credit. Maintain timely communication with Sales regarding the status of the Direct Bill
• Hold monthly credit meetings, maintain AR Aging log with collection efforts noted
• Answer guest disputes/phone calls and chargebacks on a daily basis
• Post advance deposits as noted in CI Activities, Canary, and 3rd Party emails
• Keep O-Status to a minimum - daily processing required
• On the 1st of each month, process A/R month end reports and bill Monthly Parkers

Job Requirements

• College Diploma.
• Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from 2 year college or technical school with focus in accounting; or 2 years accounts payable/cashier experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
