Staff Accountant

Summary:

Westbay Community Action, Inc. has an immediate opening for a focused and detail-oriented Staff Accountant who will play an integral role in the smooth financial operation of the organization.

This position is 37.5 hours per week with a pay rate of $25-28/hour. Westbay offers a generous benefits package including paid vacation, sick, and personal time as well as 14 paid holidays. Other benefits include life, health, dental, and vision insurance, and a 401k with company match.

Qualifications:

• Minimum two years experience in a similar accounting position required; non-profit experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred
• Two years experience with medical billing/fee-for-service billing preferred
• Experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, General Ledger, Human Resource Benefits processes, spreadsheets and word processing
• Experience with Financial Edge and Quickbooks accounting software is a plus
• Federal, state, or municipal grant accounting experience desirable
• Pass a BCI check

Specific Duties:

The duties listed below are primary functions of the job and are not intended to be all-inclusive.

• Process bi-weekly payroll
• Accounts Payable: Enter invoices daily (including coding, obtaining CFO signoff & posting) as well as cutting checks 1-2 times/week
• Accounts Receivable: Enter invoices into accounting software and accurately apply payments to open invoices as received
• Post all payments/deposits, ensuring payments are matched with correct invoices
• Prepare, process & submit monthly/weekly billing and back-billing for various grants and fee-based services as assigned by the CFO and/or Controller (Including but not limited to EDS, DHS, Kids Connect, Weatherization, NHP, Nutrition, Children’s Center and CACFP)
• Ensure all vendors have W-9 forms on file, keep Accounting Software updated for 1099s
• Keep finance files organized, well-maintained, and up to date
• Assist in preparing for & supporting annual audit process
• Verify expenses haven't been charged to old grant codes before the Controller begins Admin Allocations
• Grant Billing
• Employee benefit invoice and credit card reconciliations
• Bank Deposits
• Ensure information being posted to the General Ledger is accurate and supporting documentation is available for future audits
• Multiple Staff Accountants will share this list of duties, but all will become cross-trained with other members of the accounting dept to provide backup support as needed. Specific responsibilities may shift between Staff Accountants as needed
• Other accounting and administrative duties to support Controller and/or CFO as needed
