BWXT is currently seeking a Staff Accountant for its location in Long Beach, California!

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for the daily accounting transactions, ensuring that financial statements are accurately prepared and in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).  Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and month-end close activities.  This position will report to the Finance Manager and can be expanded to include financial analysis and other ad-hoc requests.

Cunico, a BWXT company, was founded in 1951 in Long Beach, California and specializes in naval products for submarines, aircraft carriers, naval surface ships and LNG manifold/valve systems. Job Description / Duties:

• Maintain financial records and ensure transactions are properly recorded.
• Ensure data integrity and consistency through account reconciliations.
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements.
• Assist with month-end closing and reporting, as required.
• Handle cash receipts and payables, communicating with vendors and customers, as necessary.
• Oversee time reporting and provide data reports to Corporate HR to facilitate payroll.
• Complete accounting and reporting activities in compliance with GAAP and SOX requirements.

Job Qualifications / Requirements:

• High school diploma/or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field is preferred.
• Relevant experience is preferred.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel; Epicor and/or SAP experience is a plus.
• Must have strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship
