Mustang Special Utility District is a local governmental entity providing water and water reclamation utility service in Denton, Collin, and Grayson Counties of North Texas. Providing Life’s Most Precious Resource. We’re looking for a critical person to join our team as a Staff Accountant.
Description:
The Staff Accountant will perform a variety of accounting tasks including general ledger functions and reconciliations. The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Financial Services Manager and will assist with financial reporting and year-end audit preparation. Critical thinking and an eye for detail are vital in this position.
Duties:
Include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare general ledger reconciliations and process journal entries from multiple sources
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
- Prepare monthly accounts receivable invoices and review aging reports
- Assist with Accounts Payable review and coding
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports
- Prepare supplemental monthly reports
- Assist with annual budget and annual audit
- Perform related duties and fulfill responsibilities as required or assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Two years of progressively responsible professional experience in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with co-workers
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
Conditions of Employment:
- Must have a valid Class "C" Driver's License before employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license within 30 days of hire per state law)
- Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check.
Work Environment:
This position primarily requires work in an indoor professional office work environment.
