Stability Chemist

United-Guardian, Inc., a manufacturer of cosmetic ingredients, pharmaceuticals and medical lubricants based in Hauppauge, NY is looking for a full- time Stability Chemist.

The Stability Chemist will be responsible for independently maintaining the stability program including scheduling, testing, and reporting on stability information, preparing sample requests from customers, performing routine laboratory maintenance, and assisting product development chemists with formulation work and production assistance. Successful performance in this position may offer the opportunity to move into an increased role as a Product Development chemist.

Main Responsibilities:

· Conducts chemical and physical laboratory tests of products and analyzes test data.

· Sets up laboratory equipment and instrumentation required for tests, research, or process control.

· Tests and analyzes products to determine strength, stability, purity, chemical content, and other characteristics.

· Documents and analyzes results of tests. Enters project data into computerized files.

· Maintains the R&D Stability program including setting up samples, scheduling, testing, analyzing data and preparing stability reports.

· Performs routine laboratory maintenance and weekly lab equipment calibrations. Helps maintain the chemical room inventory.

· Prepares and processes customer sample requests and maintains sample room inventory. Requests samples from suppliers.

· Aids product development chemists with formulation work, production assistance, prototype preparation and research.

· Participates in department meetings; contributes ideas and suggestions for improving department processes.

· Additional duties may be assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

· BS Chemistry or related field with 1+ year experience preferred.

· Lab experience desirable in related science.

· Strong organizational, writing skills, people and communication skills.
