The SSVF Director will manage daily service delivery and coordination of services for the Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program (SSVF). The SSVF Director will ensure that the program is fully executing on targets and provision of high-quality core supportive services for enrolled veteran families. They supervise and manage daily program operations and execute compliance and oversite functions as a key member of the management team. The SSVF Director, under the guidance of the Associate Vice President, will partner with fellow members of the management team, S:US funders, oversite agencies, and executive leadership to elevate S:US’ service delivery to all stakeholders.  They are influential in managing program services including housing search and placement functions for both Rapid Re-housing and Homeless prevention supports, housing stability planning, health navigation, SSVF legal aid, case management, and access to other essential services as needed. They work collaboratively across S:US programs and community partnerships to ensure that the program is delivering veteran-centered services that support the unique needs and goals of participants.  The SSVF Director will also be dedicated to the core values of S:US and the VA SSVF program, effective manage and develop their staff, exhibit fluency in regulations and RRH/HP practices standards, and drive program CQI efforts for service delivery, effective and impactful programming, and excellent customer service.

 

  1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Leads staff in daily operations of SSVF housing, service coordination and housing stability services.
    • Oversees the delivery and coordination of core SSVF supportive services and contracted supports such as legal aid, hosing stability planning efforts, health navigation, temporary financial assistance and other eligible services.
    • Adapts and improved service models to be responsive to a changing environment and individualized needs/goals of the veteran families we serve.
    • Participates in and monitors the recruitment/hiring of staff and talent development.
    • Provides program and professional supervision, leads required staff and project management team meetings and trainings, monitor program outcomes.
    • Participate in program/division management meetings as needed and facilitates staff meetings, case conferences, COC/partners meetings as appropriate.
    • Manages special projects and all other assignments as determined by the AVP.
    • Confirms services are delivered in accordance with agency culture, mission, vision and values and SSVF program guide/grant agreement.

               Data Accountability

  • Develops, monitors and evaluates all program work plans, outputs and outcomes to ensure goals are met. Identify and implement actions to improve goal attainment as necessary.
  • Develops and monitor data to monitor and report participant outcomes and service effectiveness.
  • Regularly performs reviews of charts, TFA, HMIS/AWARDS, and other Veterans Services records/systems, helping to ensure program compliance with the rules and regulations of the VA, licensing and funding agencies, and in accordance with organizational policies and procedures
  • Assist with accreditation reviews, monitoring visits and program audits.

 

              Compliance

  • Enforces corporate compliance protocols, S:US employee policies, procedures, protocols, and incident management policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Monitors, assess and report on the delivery and documentation of core services and supports for veterans and their families.
  • Establishes and reinforces the use of best practices for best-in class service delivery and documentation.
  • Completes timely submission of reports, inquiries, responses to internal and external stakeholders
  • Regularly drives program improvements and supports all compliance/audit preparation activities, accreditation processes and ongoing QA efforts with agency leadership.

 

              Operations

  • Coordinates SSVF operations as part of the Veterans Services management team
  • Responds to stakeholder needs promptly, accurately and with courtesy and respect. Models appropriate behavior and represents the organization in a positive and appropriate manner.
  • Provides program and professional supervision, coordinates team meetings and trainings, assists with the monitoring of program outcomes and core services (e.g., program enrollment targets, referrals and engagement, mandatory paperwork, HMIS data reports, S:US, VA and CARF-related requirements).
  • Ensures that staff work with veterans and their families to measure and assess the impact of services that support homelessness prevention and rapid re-housing; from assessment to service planning, delivery and review.
  • Directly supervises a staff of SSVF managers, Team Leaders and specialized staff
  • Manages program implementation efforts across the full S:US SSVF service region (NYC and Long Island).
  • Provides leadership for the team, especially training, supervision, problem-solving for difficult or stagnant cases, and guidance on documentation standards, as directed by Division leadership.
  • Supports S:US’ commitment to ongoing quality assurance and improvement.
  • Assists in the implementation and development of best practices in the field and SSVF Practice Standards.
  • Maintains accountability and operation within established budget.
  • Remains current and updated on new regulations, policies, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Monitors quality standards and supports the delivery of best-in-class service
  • Supports ongoing improvements to participant satisfaction
  • Develops program policy & procedures governing the provision of services to consumers and day to day program operations.
  • Collaborates with the team on training and program specific orientation for new hires and program staff.

 

External Relations

  • Represents the agency and programs and in a professional manner to funders, consumers, potential consumers, referring agencies, network members, etc.
  • Builds and maintain excellent rapport with all community stakeholders and service partners.
  • Regularly attends and actively participates in COC and other agency & community meetings and events
  • Perform other duties as required

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required.
·       Minimum of 6 years of professional experience, including at least 4 years of managerial experience in a professional function·       Effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Leadership capability to manage, coach, and develop program staff and managers.
  • Ability to contribute to and implement work systems for the efficient running of an operation.
  • Ability to provide direction and focus on the implementation of new initiatives

  • Qualified applicants will have a demonstrated ability to develop and manage relationships with funders, partners and within the service community.
  • Staff member will be expected to work across all five boroughs of NYC and be flexible with field work, emergency response and scheduling to meet the needs to program and people served.
