A reputed hospital in Brooklyn has an immediate need for Certified Nursing Assistant in Long-term care
Type: Contract
Schedule: Evening Shift: 3:00pm to 11:00pm
Location: Brooklyn
Duties:
• Responsible for performing assignments relating to the care of patients, as delegated by the Staff Nurse
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES:
• Provide direct care to patients based on policy, practice and as supervised.
• Assist with activities such as changing bandages and patient grooming and hygiene.
• Clean and care bedside equipment and general environment, occupied, and unoccupied beds, bedside table, dresser, clothing, and personal belongings.
• Assist nurse to maintain continued observation of and patient needs, i.e., answers lights promptly, transport patients, and assists with activities assigned.
• Monitor patient activities throughout the shift by visiting each patient at least every 2 hours making specific observations.
• Reports to nurse of any deviations from usual/unusual behavior and clinical status and/or any special needs on behalf of the patient.
• Take vital signs, including blood pressures.
• Record, document, and report results.
• Check daily on general health and physical appearance of patient and reports same to nurse.
• Assist with keeping facility activity areas orderly and in a safe condition.
• Maintain a clean work area, i.e., utility rooms, treatment rooms, pantry, etc.
• Take interest in patient's involvement with activities.
• Assist with admission and discharge activities.
• Account for linen and helps keep Linen Room neat and orderly. Report when unit supplies need to be replenished.
• Perform other assigned tasks as necessary.
Skills:
Education:
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of orientation for care of persons with AIDS.
Experience:
• No prior experience needed.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS:
• New York State Certification as a Nursing Attendant, required.
