Overview
The Office of Student Orientation and Transition Programs at Rutgers University New Brunswick is responsible for the planning and execution of 20+ orientation programs welcoming 9000+ new students. This position is responsible for the coordination of the recruitment and selection processes for our undergraduate and graduate staff positions, not limited to orientation coordinators, orientation leaders, summer graduate interns, and Rutgers University’s Graduate School of Education College Student Affairs (CSA) interns 70+ annually.

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Sr. Student Programs Coordinator for the Office of Student Orientation and Transition Programs. Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Orientation and Transition Programs, responsibilities of this position also include budget management, policy development, marketing and outreach, and event planning. As a staff member in the Division of Student Affairs, this position also provides support to the division for university events including New Student Convocation, Involvement Fair, Homecoming, Academic Planning Days, University Open House, and Rutgers Day.

- Oversees the department’s recruitment and selection of undergraduate and graduate student staff (70+ students annually)
- Coordinates summer housing accommodations, in conjunction with Residence Life, for student staff
- Assists in the coordination and implementation of department’s training and supervision of undergraduate and graduate staff members.
- Assists in the planning and development of a comprehensive orientation program for first-year, transfer, and non-traditional students.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- Requires a master’s degree or equivalent experience in student affairs or higher education administration with at least two years’ experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience in event planning and advising, supervisory skills, training experience and fiscal management required.
- Successful candidates will demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Must be willing to represent the university and New Student Orientation at campus functions, regional meetings, and national conferences with continued commitment to development of the office and program.
- Must practice open and effective communication with students, faculty, and staff to build and maintain collaborative relationships with a variety of university departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Recruitment and selection of staff work preferred.
- Experience working with first year or transfer students preferred.
Equipment Utilized
- Computer skills must include knowledge of spreadsheets and database applications, basic web and presentation design, and publishing applications.
- PC, Apple and Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs/Forms, MailChimp, Mobile App Software.

Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
