Pay Philosophy
The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

If this describes you, then we would love to tell you more about the Sr. Solution Architect Data role with Liberty Mutual Insurance US Retail Markets (USRM).
About the role:
  • Ability to astutely operate in the organization: Well respected and influential; Able to emphasize on required architecture changes, designing and proposing architecture solutions; Technologically neutral; Articulate, persuasive, and a good salesperson; Enthusiastic.
  • Partner with business leadership to identify problems, and opportunities for technology innovation with focus on Data.
  • Help establish a clear, consistent technology vision through collaboration, influence, and enablement.
  • Guide, educate, and mentor the Data Architecture Strategy directives, principles, & standards to individuals who play data-related roles (e.g., data analysts, ETL developers, report developers & business analysts).
  • Stay informed on initiatives across the industry and the enterprise to help product owners and IT leadership effectively prioritize.
  • Ability to conceive and portray the big data picture, analyzes current state and conceives desired future state, and conceives projects needed to close the gap
  • Accelerate delivery by forming a network of positive relationships with influencers within the enterprise and beyond.
  • Experience with gathering end user requirements and writing technical documentation.
  • Time management and multitasking skills to effectively meet challenging deadlines.
  • Ability to suggest innovative solutions based on new technologies and latest trends.
  • Very good knowledge of RDBMS topics, ability to write complex SQL.
  • Understanding of performance tuning and troubleshooting aspects.
  • Understanding of Data security and data access controls and design aspects,
  • Experience in Agile development methodologies.
  • Excellent client facing and team player skills.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with data modeling different types of Data structures: schema modeling such RDF and API/Event, Data Modeling including relational, dimensional, Data Vault, NOSQL,
  • Experience adopting industry standard canonical models (E.G. ACORD) and driving alignment to data governance initiatives.
  • Experience with data governance and its best practices.
  • Experience in effective data exploration and visualization (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
  • Experience in messaging platforms, protocols, and techniques such as Kafka, and event sourcing.
  • Expertise in a wide variety of Database technologies, from RDBMS like Snowflake, Oracle, DB2, Postgres to NoSQL systems such as MongoDB, or Opensearch/Elasticsearch, and can explain their varied use cases.

Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of agile development methodologies as typically acquired through a Bachelor`s or Master`s degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience
  • 12-15+ years of related experience
  • Extensive experience in software engineering languages and tools; proficient in new and emerging technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of diverse and emerging technologies and new architectural concepts and principles
  • In-depth understanding of layered solutions and designs; in-depth understanding of shared software concepts and product features, as well as security minded
  • Extensive knowledge of all product and system components of technical architecture
  • In-depth knowledge of business operations, objectives and strategies; in-depth understanding of global business and technology trends and the financial services industry
  • Strong influencing and consensus building skills, and the adaptability to respond to change quickly
  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization with diverse backgrounds
  • Proven experience with agile practices and expectations
  • Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly
  • Strong consulting skills (relevant/technical); recognized as a thought leader within the company
  • Ability to balance the long-term "big picture" and short-term implications of decisions
