Sr. Safety Specialist

Starting salary at $99K (on-site)
We are looking for a motivated Sr. Safety Specialist to join our team at our Moorhead, MN factory. This individual will provide senior safety leadership to ensure the facility (including agriculture, operations and packaging/warehousing areas) in compliance with corporate safety standards. They will partner with facility management to implement safety directives and training initiatives, improve overall safety performance, reduce incident and accident rates and ensure all site safety policies and procedures are aligned with governmental regulations.
The principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

• Lead and promote a positive work culture through Company Values of Safety, Integrity, Quality, Teamwork, and Accountability.
• Under the direction of the Safety Manager, the Sr Safety Specialist leads the efforts to positively influence management, supervisors and employees to ensure their actions and behaviors are in compliance with safety standards and SOPs .
• Participates in the development of safety/compliance training programs to ensure training is appropriate and available to all personnel, including agricultural, operations and packaging/warehousing employees.
• Manages and provides direction of the Safety Technician at their location.
• Partners with facility management and Facilities Superintendent to conduct incident investigations, and issue final investigation reports.
• The Sr Safety Specialist conducts both formal periodic audits as well as frequent informal audits.
• The Sr Safety Specialist works directly with the Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) to assist with industrial hygiene (IH) testing/monitoring and training of employees in proper use of Personal Protective Equipment as required, to minimize exposure to occupational health hazards.
• Works with MHD OHN to conduct Code Blue Drills at Tech Services and Corporate.
• Administers and facilitates the FR Rental clothing program safety related department for the company.
• Collaborate and assist all Ag department leaders in the delivery of the required safety training.
• Manages the MRO Safety Contract with outside vendors for all 5 factories.
• Manages and administers the First Verify Contractor approval program for all locations effectively.
• In collaboration with the local Safety Specialist, facilitate scheduling annual crane & hoist inspections for all locations.
• Manage and update annually the EAP programs for the Moorhead Factory, Tech Services and Corporate office.
• Conduct required evacuation drills for the Moorhead Factory and Tech Services and Corporate buildings.

To be successful in this position requires extensive knowledge of Federal and State OSHA regulations and compliance procedures typically gained through the completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Safety and Health or a related field with five to seven years of management and safety related experience in an industrial setting. Excellent analytical, communication, influencing and training skills are required as well as the ability to work effectively with all employees to continuously improve employee safety.
