Description
Our Commercial business manages the company's worldwide commodity, supply, and marketing needs. Working with leadership on the development of the risk management processes for expanded Crude, NGL, and LNG activities. In addition, working closely with Exploration and Production, Commercial adds significant value by improving ConocoPhillips supply chain management and growing its third-party global marketing business. This position is responsible for monitoring and reporting of Risk related commodity positions and P&L within Gas, Power, LNG, and Crude, using deal capture, position reporting and risk management systems. The position also serves as an integral element within the internal control environment by ensuring positions are marked to market daily and risk management position reports are completed accurately and timely. You may be eligible for the voluntary hybrid office work (HOW) program that is designed to provide employees with flexibility while maintaining the advantages of in-person engagement.
Job Description
Your responsibilities may include:
- Use existing systems and spreadsheet tools to summarize commercial commodity price-risk positions
- Maintain MS Excel and MS Access based tools that leverage corporate systems for deal capture, position management, earnings and VaR
- Monitor and report exposure, VaR, and risk results
- Monitoring compliance with the company's risk control policies and regional position limits
- Coordinating reconciliation of paper and physical positions to systems of record, and front office control spreadsheets in support of daily reporting responsibilities
- Support modeling of proposed trading scenarios and structured products
- Develop understanding of Commodity markets. Through collaboration with Front Office, understand trading patterns and the infrastructure that moves gas, power, crude, or LNG from supply to market areas
- Perform independent analysis to address various commercial concerns
- Train and mentor other Risk Operations team members
- Prepare a variety of ad hoc analysis and data tools to meet changing business needs
- Participate in business improvement projects that might include supporting or leading cross-functional teams that implement systems enhancements, re-work business processes, or address enterprise risks
Basic/Required:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- 5 or more years of experience with MTM & VaR reporting, GAAP accounting and financial reporting, or engineering & quantitative analysis
- 3 or more years of Risk Analyst experience
- 3 or more years of experience maintaining Excel spreadsheets or development and maintenance of complex models
Preferred:
- 3 or more years of experience with MTM & VaR reporting, Crude Oil and Liquids
- 3 or more years of experience at driving change to improve work processes
- 1 or more years of experience with Right Angle
- Advanced proficiency in the use of Excel and development or maintenance of complex models
- Intermediate proficiency in SQL, PowerBI, Python, Spotfire or related programs
- Intermediate knowledge of financial products/contracts used in commodity trading and risk management (swaps, options, futures and forwards)
- Intermediate knowledge of the Company's risk management policies
- Ability (with or without reasonable accommodations) to interact with both finance and trading customers

- Demonstrates a high level of personal initiative and sense of urgency to get the job done, both in handling technical tools and addressing business issues
