Position: Sr Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty

Dept: OBGYN Emergency Services

Shift:  FT Day; including rotating weekends

 

 

Primary Purpose:

Provides care to assigned patient population in accordance with established protocols and multidisciplinary plan of care utilizing independent, dependent, and interdependent interventions to restore stability, prevent complications, and achieve and maintain optimal patient responses for all patients through patient centered/patient valued care.

Job Summary:

  • Provides care for assigned patient population in accordance with the current State of Texas Nurse Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plan of care, and clinical area specific standards.
  • Provides continuous assessment, consults with other team members as required and provides nursing care which demonstrates patient centered/patient valued care.
  • Exercises independent judgment in providing nursing care.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and hospital staff in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to demonstrate the ability to provide direction to non-nursing staff, serve as a preceptor, and serve on rotation as a Charge Nurse.
  • Ability to prepare and conduct in-service educational programs.
  • Ability to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
  • Must be able to pass Medication Examination prior to hospital orientation. Current Parkland employees requesting reassignment to role must have current Mediation Examination on file.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • A.S.N. or BSN Degree from an accredited Professional School of Nursing.
  • Current/Valid State of TX RN license or temporary RN license or, Compact RN license in good standing without stipulations.
  • Two (2) years of direct RN OB/GYN, including Emergency Room or CCU/ICU experience in a hosptial setting.

 

 

Certification/Registration/Licensure:

*Please note, all required certifications must be more than 30 days from expiration from start date.

 

  • Valid/Current Basic Life Support (BLS) healthcare provider certification, at time of offer and the ability to maintain thereafter from one of the following: American Heart Association; American Red Cross; or Military Training Network.
  • Valid/Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS), at time of offer or within 90 days of start date, and the ability to maintain thereafter from one of the following: American Heart Association; American Red Cross; or Military Training Network.
