Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
· Measurement expert in the use of dimensional and visual measurement equipment including handheld measurement devices, Optical Comparators, and Smart Scopes.
· Expert in reading and interpreting drawings with and without GD&T elements.
· Develop and train employees in measurement techniques and drawing interpretation.
· Drive task completion to current demand.
· Drive the culture of quality at the source.
· Analyze performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities focused on departmental goals.
· Ability to quickly identify process gaps and work to resolve the issue.
· Actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy within the larger organization.
· Proactive Implementation of Continuous Improvement opportunities.
· Train and guide employees through 5S, FMEA, standardized work, control plans, and other quality tools.
· Ability to execute Lean Six Sigma projects to improve the overall performance of the quality management system.
· Participate/lead measurement correlation exercises as directed by the Quality Engineer.
· Ensure effective and timely disposition of non-conforming products.
· Working knowledge of the DMAIC process.
· Participate throughout the corrective action process to ensure completion.
· Use the Failure Mode Effect and Analysis tool as part of standard work to derive solutions.
· Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
Technical Competencies – specifically related to this position
Blueprint/drawing Reading: Ability to read and interpret blue prints and drawings.
Quality Tools: Ability to use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices.
Supervision: Ability to work without direct supervision.
Mechanical Skills: Good mechanical skills and abilities;
Problem Solving Skills: Good problem solving skills; ability to utilize problem solving methods and techniques to
perform root cause analysis and implement solutions to correct problems.
Judgment: High level of judgment and decision making abilities.
Interpersonal Communications: Ability to convey information accurately and effectively.
Knowledge of Manufacturing Processes: Good understanding and working knowledge of manufacturing processes.
Lean Thinking: Learns and practices lean principles and applies tools and techniques.
Requirements
Technical Experience: 3 – 10 years in a quality discipline related to inspection. Hands-on use and expert aptitudes of precision measurement devices. Expert aptitudes in interpreting drawings with and without GD&T elements. Smartscope/vision measurement experience preferred. Lean manufacturing experience preferred. Industry Experience: Experience in metal forming is preferred. Experience in deep-draw metal stamping industry preferred.
Hours are Monday - Thursday 5am to 3:30pm
