At Amazon, Global Risk Management and Claims is a fast-growing area within Corporate Treasury. We partner with Amazon businesses, subsidiaries and the largest insurance companies to solve some of the world’s biggest challenges by providing risk-based solutions and building capabilities for global scale. We are looking for a Senior Program Manager to drive Global Risk Management and Claims Programs in partnership with Amazon business lines and their subsidiaries.

This role will require leadership skills and interaction/influence with teams across Amazon. The ideal candidate will be curious, have strong attention to detail, be energized by a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, be comfortable thinking big while also diving deep, will have high judgement and comfort managing senior stakeholders. Additionally, this position will provide support for our business partners through clear, factual communications and lead initiatives on a wide range of complex topics. A successful individual in this role must be skilled at breaking down complex problems into prioritized, executable phases. The role requires regular interactions with multiple teams and jointly working with them to meet both short term and long term business needs.
As a member of the Strategic Management Office (the program management team for Global Risk Management & Claims), you will work alongside the Chief Insurance Officer, Captive Operations, Claims Leadership, Software Directors, Sr Managers, SDEs, SDMs and Risk Programs owners to define and manage extra-large programs that impact all of Amazon and its subsidiaries. You will be responsible for defining and driving program road-maps and managing key cross-organizational dependencies with Tax, Legal, Accounting, Partner Brokers and Underwriters. You will have significant impact on customer strategy and innovative results by defining product deliverables, driving new process design and spearheading best practices that enable timely delivery of global multiyear programs.
Key job responsibilities
- Drive program objectives – provide program Management and define project plans, manage implementation activities, and develop processes, documentation and communications for program/process rollout and ongoing support.
- Communicate new/updated programs, policies, and processes to leaders, employees, and cross functional organizations.
- Scale services and tools – design processes and procedures that scale with the business’ growth in volume, complexity, and global geographic dispersion.
- Define key performance indicators – develop metrics and service level agreements for core programs and processes, and track delivery against program objectives as they relate to assigned strategic initiatives.
- Leverage claims insights or third party tools to help identify upfront risk mitigation opportunities to avoid claims in the first place or opportunities to increase pricing segmentation.
- Ensure solutions, oversight, and controls are well documented, communicated, are robust and scalable.
- Partner with business and functional leaders to build mitigation strategies and identify inter-dependencies.
- Drive operational excellence of extra-large programs including leadership, change management, process excellence, best practices sharing, and continuous improvement.
- Design, build and implement high impact claims support programs based on business line and customer feedback.
- Provide strategic guidance in true partnership with Amazon executive leadership, customers and suppliers.

SMO is a program enabling function that innovates on behalf of our stakeholders and customers to provide strategic solutions that support the risk, insurance and Claims work they do daily. SMO is in the unique position to look across the organization, break down silos, and promote fully integrated (business and tech) solutions. - 5+ years of driving process improvements experience
- Track record to communicate and negotiate with internal and external C-Level stakeholders with high impact leadership for situations where no playbook exists.
- Results-oriented and able to successfully translate vision to tangible actions and customer-centric measurable results including strategy, financials, people, process, data and technology.
- Design blueprints for a multi-year Risk Management, Workers Comp and Claims management programs.
- Define business requirements, user experience, and controls for regulated entities; able to drive multiple extra-large programs concurrently including, tech integrations and business process changes.
- Must have experience building programs to support operational execution.
- Cross-functional insurance operations experience with in-depth knowledge of insurance industry.
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $92,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
