The Senior Producer/Editor, reporting to the Executive Producer, is a senior member of the team of Producer/Editors at Boston University Productions. They are responsible for regularly producing high-quality, high-visibility, engaging video content firmly rooted in strong storytelling. They will be expected to work on high-level, complex productions and interact with executive-level leadership, requiring exceptional communication skills and the ability to put subjects at ease, providing advanced creative direction.

This position should be comfortable focusing on story-first, character-first, documentary-style storytelling, AND taking on research-based stories that require clear and smartly articulated explanations of complex work. Occasionally, this position will also be required to execute high-level video work with regard to messaging and/or explanation of complex concepts that require appropriate judgment and discretion for the situation. This position should be able to navigate a variety of interview subjects with the appropriate tone, composure, and/or sensitivity and discretion: casual conversations with undergrads, heady discussions with researchers, and respectful rapport with deans and administrators. Required Skills
    Bachelor's degree with 5-8 years of related experience, or a Master's degree with 3-5 years of related experience. Demonstrate progressively responsible experience in a professional video editing/producing environment. Advanced editing experience with non-linear systems such as Avid is required. Must be able to deliver the best solution to find an approach to tell a story. Be able to develop solutions for technical issues and optimize and improve best practices, workflow, and processes in production and post-production. Remain current on the developments and applications of state-of-the-art Video Production technology.Work on high-level, complex productions and interact with executive-level leadership. Exceptional communication skills and ability to put subjects at ease while providing advanced creative direction. A background in documentary-style Video Production is strongly preferred, and along with it:
    an interviewing style that yields a compelling, naturalistic narrative an ability as a shooter to craft footage that yields cinematic and comprehensively covered scene work, often mostly handheld an Avid-based post-production skillset to package everything into a complete story and overall package, including the ability to apply color correction and sound mix to the finishes the long-form video content (2.5-7 minutes) produced by this position will be used on the University's news and social media channels.
On a continual basis, this position should be able to pitch story ideas that best highlight notable stories and accomplishments among the University's students, staff, faculty, and alumni, all while meeting strategic initiatives outlined by the Executive Producer. The Senior Producer/Editor is expected to be self-motivated, extremely detail-oriented, and always searching for the next story.
