Job description

SUMMARY: The senior Marketing & Strategic Communications Officer works closely with the Marketing & Strategic Communications director in developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies and tactics that are aligned with the foundation's mission, values, key messages and strategic priorities.

This position works collaboratively to provide broad-based marketing and Strategic Communications thought-leadership support to our Passport and WCAN teams. The Washington Passport Network (WPN) team focuses on improving educational outcomes for youth experiencing foster care or unaccompanied homelessness. The WCAN team helps to enroll qualified students in Washington State's College Bound Scholarship program to close the attainment gap for low-income students and increase financial aid awareness and applications.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Website content management: Manage and curate content for Washington Passport Network website in consultation and collaboration with the program team, including evolving the website to continue meeting the needs of Passport Network members.
  • Content creation: Help write and/or edit a variety of content including email/newsletters; program updates and various collateral for various audiences of practitioners, scholars and external supporters.
  • Webinars: Support and promote bi-monthly webinars in collaboration with program team.
  • Storytelling: Collaborate with colleagues to write and publish content to support program execution and uplift the outcomes of scholars and staff.
  • Collaboration: Closely collaborate with program and marketing teams on strategic priorities and initiatives.
  • Perform other marketing and communication duties as assigned.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; including writing and editing for voice and tone.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and thrive in dynamic work environment.
  • Strategic problem-solving.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across a multi-functional team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office365 tools (Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint); Adobe Acrobat and WordPress.

  • An established commitment to work collaboratively and harmoniously with CSF staff, colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time. Must have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of relevant and progressive professional experience in marketing and Strategic Communications.
  • Experience working in a matrix organization and with nonprofit programs is preferred.
  • Fluency in English is required. Other language proficiency is a plus.
  • Nonprofit experience is a plus.
  • Ability to comply with company COVID-19 vaccination policy.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

During a pandemic, employees must be able to work remotely and use collaborative software in order to communicate with others and to attend virtual meetings. A hybrid remote schedule is available for this position. Employees must reside in the state of Washington. Employees must be able to handle the stress that is involved in meeting strenuous and competing deadlines, working in high volume areas, and be flexible and able to interact with employees, students, and/or community partners of all levels.
After the pandemic, the work environment may be remote, may be hybrid, or may require working from the headquarters office. The office work environment is moderately quiet.
