Your role as Sr. Manager, Technical Operations and Training will support the national network of broadcast stations in delivering a Cloud Based distribution of the local linear stream. You will ensure that station services are maintained with appropriate service levels and monitor all technical broadcast activities related to Cloud Assembly and Playout. This program stream will be built on our next-generation media ecosystem operating in the cloud and with data-driven systems and monitoring services that provide high levels of visibility to the larger organization.

The Sr. Manager, Technical Operations and Training will be part of Sinclair Broadcast Group's Engineering and Operations team and will work closely with other technology teams engaged in projects for transforming content management, optimizing rights and scheduling, realizing the promise of NextGenTV, and bringing a cross-platform perspective to advertising technology.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Create and Develop all Training and Development Program/Syllabus for the new Cloud Ingest & Playout Systems
  • Create and Maintain Training Schedules as required for our Television Stations.
  • Provide training to the Television Stations Operations Staff.
  • Assess the technical skill level of applicants and employees, as needed.
  • Develop documentation within department, including but not limited to Standard Operating Procedures for Playout, Ingest and Content Management Processes.
  • Compile data and/or generate reports, as needed.
  • Travel to different Sinclair locations will be required as needed. 

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing Tier 2 and Tier 3 operational media services to a national broadcast group.
  • Understand the Media Assembly and Automation to be able to react in case of a last-minute request/changes.
  • Ability to comprehend signal flow documents as well as systems level troubleshooting. 
  • Excellent communicator and able to manage highly Technical Operations teams while interfacing with Engineering, Operations, and 3rd party vendors. 
  • Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources. 
  • Maintaining and leveraging appropriate data collection and monitoring systems to ensure visibility and communication on the status of media operations.
  • Working with external consulting teams to assist in operational efficiency efforts.
  • Approaching Operations and resourcing using an agile and lean mindset.
  • Research and investigate new technology (hardware and software) that could be beneficial to the performance of our new Cloud Ingest and Playout Platform.
  • Compile data and/or generate reports, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Must have 3+ Years experience in training Operator and Technicians in Master Control and Ingest Areas of Television and Content Media Companies. 
  • Must have excellent Writing Skills of Technical Operating Procedures. 
  • 7+ Years of experience in Managing Engineering and/or Operations Teams.
  • Experience in troubleshooting operational issues (Playout, Media, Caption, etc.).
  • Experience with digital workflows and digital video technologies.
  • Experience with Systems and Hardware for Content Ingest, Playout and Distribution.
  • Experience in Local Station Operations.
  • A plus if you have experience in incident management and NOC Operations. 
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with various Technology and Operations teams.
