In Strategy Implementation, you will work alongside team members from the Strategy & PMO team and core business functions to bring Five Below’s enterprise strategies to life. To do this, it requires a deep understanding of project management methodologies, strategic planning and cross-functional collaboration all used to execute the organization’s strategic initiatives. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and strategic professional to drive organization growth and success through effective Strategy Implementation.
Job Responsibilities:
Project Management
- Lead the end-to-end management of multiple strategic projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope and within budget.
- Utilize project management best practices, ensuring standardized processes and methodologies are followed across all initiatives.
- Develop a comprehensive and realistic project plan that incorporates all functional needs.
- Execute detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans and status reports.
- Drive execution by asking tough questions and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Escalate risks and facilitate leadership discussion to resolve and bring the group to decision quickly.
- Establish KPIs to track progress and ensure deliverables are meeting stated goals/success criteria.
- Manage all tracking and weekly progress reporting for functional leads and senior management team, using systems and automation where possible.
Collaboration & Communication
- Get work done through cooperation with other groups with no direct reporting relationship to ensure that programs are delivered as planned.
- Interact with peers across the enterprise to ensure alignment, while also motivating them to work together and achieve organizational goals.
- Develop change management strategies, including training and communication, to build stakeholder awareness of new programs or initiatives that are upcoming and/or underway.
- Construct senior management presentations, communicating complicated matters in a simple, structured way, to keep them informed and able to clearly make decisions.
Portfolio Roadmap Creation
- Support the overall Five Below strategic initiatives planning and implementation process.
- Collaborate on prioritization and advancement of process, tool and technology solutions that support and enhance consistent business process and ease of operation across core user groups.
- Translate strategic goals into actionable project plans, ensuring alignment between individual projects and the broader long-range plan.
- Ensure deliverables are achieved to meet enterprise-wide objectives.
Qualifications:
- 4-year or advanced degree in a relevant field.
- 5+ years of practical experience, including Strategy Implementation, project management, consulting roles or other applicable retail industry experience.
- Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex strategic projects.
- Ability to take risks, learn quickly, challenge the status quo and work under ambiguous circumstances.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills; ability to break down problems into fundamental parts, identify root causes, synthesize findings, and make informed decisions.
- Strong written, verbal, communication, networking, and presentation skills required, including proficient skills in PowerPoint presentation creation.
- Able to communicate complicated matters in a simple, structured way to senior management.
- High-energy, highly motivated, self-starter that is attracted by the opportunity to have significant and measurable impact on an organization and how it scales the business.
- Relationship oriented, strong influencing and interpersonal skills.
- Highly accountable, possess a “can-do” attitude and a strong, results orientation.
