ROLE SUMMARY
What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?
To manage the strategic sourcing of indirect materials and services for Reynolds American through the development of innovative and sustainable sourcing strategies to deliver a significant competitive advantage for the company. This position provides leadership to a team of Procurement Professionals responsible for end-to-end Procurement of assigned categories.

Internal -Key stakeholders and partners across all levels within Reynolds American, entire Reynolds American Procurement organization, and counterparts with Global BAT including:

  • Global Procurement team (Global Head of Indirects, Global Category Manager Marketing, Global Sourcing Managers (Marketing), Global Sustainability team
  • Local and Global LEX team
  • GBS (Cost Rica and Malaysia)

ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Work with senior management and stakeholders both, within Procurement and with the business areas to drive business initiatives and strategy to deliver on company goals.
  • Responsible for managing £100mn of category spend in the US.
  • Lead the delivery of RAI's Procurement targets in line with US and Global Procurement Strategy, with focus in Marketing.
  • Close collaboration and communication with Global Procurement teams to provide input for the definition of the Global Marketing Category Strategies for Indirect Materials & Services considering US market and RAI's functional business needs.
  • Lead the deployment of their Category Strategies for Indirect Materials & Services - Marketing in RAI.
  • Lead the demand capture process for Indirect Materials & Services - Marketing category to identify business requirements and support needed from Procurement to define RAI's annual Indirects Plan (Strategy, Sourcing and Supplier Management plans).
  • Responsible for strategic spend analysis and contracted spend for Indirect Materials & Services - Marketing category as an input for the definition of RAI's Indirect Procurement Strategy and Annual sourcing plan.
  • Active participation and support to Indirect Materials & Services - Marketing areas on the annual budgeting process (CoPlan).
  • Develop sourcing plans and other strategic programs that support requirements, ensure cost containment and continuous process improvements, while balancing the overall best interests of the Company.
  • Ensure that the buyers under his/her category utilize the appropriate procurement / sourcing strategies, procedures, and methodologies to achieve the best total cost of ownership, consistent with quality specifications and service expectations.
  • Participate in negotiations with suppliers and in the decision-making process for resolution of problems and issues.
  • Definition and implementation of stakeholder engagement drumbeats in Indirect Materials & Services - Marketing to ensure ongoing communication and collaboration with all functions across all levels of the organization.
  • Provide leadership and direction to his/her team to successfully execute Indirect Materials & Services - Marketing Procurement Strategy and Plan to support the area's requirements.
  • Define Performance Objectives for his/her team, in alignment with overall Procurement function objectives, and provide ongoing follow up and feedback.
  • Definition and execution of quality development plans for all employees within his/her team.
  • Provides daily leadership and coaching to his/her Team with focus on obtaining functional and strategic Company goals as well as individual performance and development goals.
  • Lead the Supplier Management Process supplier base, including supplier segmentation, risk assessment, performance management plan definition, compliance tracking and reporting (focus on Marketing suppliers).
  • Maintain strong relationships with Strategic Suppliers in Indirect Materials & Services - Marketing category, ensuring that his/her team of buyers maintain appropriate supply base and conducts periodic reviews with critical suppliers to ensure performance: Supplier Requirement Documents; Scorecards; Supplier Management & Value Improvement Process Teams; Supplier Audits and Walkthroughs and FDA Relevancy.
  • Support Procurement Policy communication, training, and compliance within Indirect Materials & Services - Marketing category communities.
  • Support the Implementation in RAI's companies the changes in processes and ways of working in alignment with Global Procurement Strategy - Lead change management for Marketing Stakeholders.
  • Support the implementation of programs to ensure compliance with Company EHS polices, Company Safety Rules, ESG glidepath and regulatory requirements.
  • Close collaboration with Indirects Global Marketing Category Managers and other Global and cross regional stakeholders in above market sourcing projects, supplier management and other Global projects.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE
Experience Required
  • Experience in project management and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Proven experience with marketing materials and services procurement leading sourcing initiatives with promotional print, point of sale merchandizing, marketing professional services & research, print & promotional products, media and creative agencies.
  • Preferably, candidates would have experience working in a highly regulated environment.

Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to set strategy and direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and develop effective teams and foster collaboration across teams.
  • Ability to make sound and timely decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent managerial and leadership skills with the ability to resolve conflict, provide coaching, direction, feedback, and develop a vision.
  • Working knowledge of finance and/or accounting in terms of budgeting, cost, management, financial accounting, treasury, risk management, business cases evaluation, etc.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, as well as understanding of standard contractual terms and conditions to mitigate legal risk.
  • Knowledge of enterprise risk management and business continuity planning.
  • Analytical mindset, but also critical and creativity to seek, encourage and find non-traditional approaches.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo.
  • Proven negotiations skills.
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, energetic, flexible, and adaptable to change.
  • Ability to engage and influence stakeholders across different levels in the organization.
  • Clear communicator.
  • Proficiency with SAP.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PowerBI, etc.).
  • Proficiency in a Contract Lifecycle Management application (iCertis).
  • Proficiency of eRFX applications (Coupa).

Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Business, or related field and 10+ years of experience Or Post Graduate Degree in Engineering, Business, or related field and 7+ years of relevant work experience.
