PAY RANGE
The Target Pay Range for this position is $124,300-$151,700 annually. The full Pay Range is $96,700-$179,300 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:
The Senior Manager of Fraud Operations plays a critical role in shaping the success of our financial crimes Fraud Operations department. As the driving force behind fraud investigations, you will lead a team dedicated to preventing, detecting, and solving internal, account, debit, and credit card fraud.
Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring regulatory compliance and fostering collaborative relationships across the organization to effectively respond to fraud threats while enhancing our product and channel objectives and member experience.
***This role can be done remotely from WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, SC, GA. Typical work schedule is Monday - Friday, 7 AM - 4 PM Pacific Time.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
  • Oversees daily operations of suspect investigations: Leading the leaders of 4 fraud case teams and internal investigation. Teams will work within internal abuse, account and card fraud, financial exploitation, ID theft, and scams.
  • Conducts monitoring and investigations into potential insider abuse fraud: Take the lead in identifying and reporting potential insider abuse fraud while engaging with law enforcement and internal business partners.
  • Coordinate internal and independent audit efforts: Collaborate on the identification, implementation, and monitoring of credit union-wide internal controls.
  • Research, plan, and implement department visions, strategies, goals, and objectives: Drive the development and execution of the business continuity/disaster recovery plan.
  • Collaborate with business units, product owners, and third-party vendors: Assess fraud risks and implement mitigation strategies that align with the organization's risk tolerance.
  • Identify and review fraud vulnerabilities at various touch points: Develop effective solutions for early detection and mitigation of fraud.
  • Stay knowledgeable about industry events, trends, and technology: Actively participate in industry-related communities and/or associations to stay ahead of emerging challenges and opportunities.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and training of staff: Support the development and performance of your team through regular evaluations, feedback, and guidance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work or educational experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a financial institution fraud environment with in-depth knowledge of criminal and civil laws, banking rules, and regulations specific to Reg E, Reg Z, and Reg CC.
  • Minimum 3 years of direct people management experience.
  • Certified Fraud Examiner Certification (CFE) or Anti-Money Laundering Specialist certifications (CAMS).
  • Experience with internal fraud investigations and establishing an internal fraud program.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 7 years of experience with financial fraud investigation.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced/change-oriented environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of criminal and civil laws, risk control, systems-based fraud prevention, basic loss prevention policies/procedures.
  • Effective leadership and strong negotiation, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills; ability to engage and influence others to achieve results.
  • Excellent tactical planning, strategic planning, and project management skills.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
