The Sr IT Project Manager will report to the Sr Manager, Store Networking & Onboarding. They will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of IT projects within the organization. They should be skilled at taking project requests and translating them into project plans for the technical execution of projects ranging in size from small to company-wide. They will work closely as a liaisons with business stakeholders, internal IT teams, and related outside vendors to gather requirements, define project scope, develop project plans, allocate resources, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. The Sr IT Project Manager will also be responsible for managing project risks, communicating project status to stakeholders, and facilitating meetings and discussions as needed. They will assist in the evaluation of different products and software to help provide needed business solutions.
The Sr IT Project Manager may have a small team of direct reports, so leadership and people management are critical skills to being successful in the role. They will be responsible for mentoring and developing other Project Managers under them.
Primary Responsibilities
Successfully manage projects assigned by IT Directors or Senior Managers
Develop the project charter, integrated project plan, resource plan, contingency plan, and related project management artifacts;
Own and maintain the project archives
Acquires project resources and ensure that all support staff for project are properly trained and informed of processes and responsibilities
Work closely with other departments to take into account their processes, needs, and priorities when building a project plan
Identify, assess, and control risks and plan responses to increase the likelihood of successful completion of IT projects
Assess and resolve all high priority project risks as they are encountered
Prioritize and triage requests from department stakeholders to provide expectations and feedback
Continue to consult with them through the project to get feedback and adjust where needed
Research and evaluate possible 3rd party software/hardware as solutions to business requests
Partner with IT and non-IT business sponsors to define success metrics and criteria
Create and maintain the team’s project roadmap, collaborating with stakeholders and other teams to ensure alignment
Handle executive escalations between vendors and ESS leadership
Lead standups and project status update meetings
Act as an escalation point for vendors, IT teams, Service Desk technicians, and other ESS teams where necessary to provide assistance in total project execution and post project support
Act as a mentor for less senior Project Managers, Telecom Team, Store Network and Onboarding team, IT Service Desk techs, and IT-Ops techs
Job Specifications
Excellent understanding of Sr It Project Manager role
Experience working within enterprise IT environments
Ability to craft clear, compelling recommendations supported by strong analysis and business logic, and articulate them to the team
Exceptional Project Management skillset including: process analysis, requirement definition, process flow, project lifecycle management, and communications.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and precision
Advanced understanding of IT hardware: Network equipment, computers, phone systems, internet circuits, LTE modems, etc
Outside the box thinker and problem solver
Thrive in a collaborative work environment
Must be self-motivator and able to complete tasks with limited direction and/or guidance
Must be able to conduct meetings and present in front of small group
Proficient SQL skillset
Proficient with Microsoft Office toolset
Must have prior people management experience
Education and Experience
6-8 years of Project Management related experience
Minimum of 10 years of experience of progressive IT responsibilities
1-2 years of people management experience
Applicable bachelor’s degree preferred
PMP certification preferred
Network+ preferred and required within 6 months of hire
