Form of workThe Senior Inventory Planner manages the holistic inventory planning process which controls $150M to $300M of inventory. This individual contributor is responsible for balancing competing objectives such as service levels and inventory costs to meet company objectives. A key to success in this position is understanding how changing business conditions and management decisions affect inventory and service levels.
- Manage the Supply Planning process for assigned category and represent the function in complex cross collaborative projects.
- Responsible for inventory turnover, obsolescence expense, and customer service levels. Using various safety stock strategies, these competing objectives must be appropriately balanced across tens of thousands of SKU-location combinations while making decisions to align with department Key Performance Indicators which require multiple functions to work together.
- Partner with managers/directors on multiple internal teams throughout the organization for collaborative planning and management of business objectives. These teams include Product Management, Pricing and Promotions, Marketing, Finance, and Sales.
- Work with accounting to ensure accurate inventory reserves. Create and communicate plans with Product Management to address excess inventory.
- Influence other teams such as Pricing and Promotions, Marketing, and Product Management to make adjustments to their plans to manage obsolescence and carrying costs. Recommend innovative solutions and best practices within the Supply Planning function.
- Determine ramifications of management decisions and changing business conditions to future inventory and customer service levels. Then make appropriate recommendations that align with company objectives.
- Evaluate new Supply Chain strategies by creating projections of inventory and service levels for planning parameter changes and differing business scenarios. Be able to explain scenarios and results to any level of management.
- Incorporate feedback from senior sales leaders to create and execute fair share allocations of constrained inventory using system tools.
- Effectively tailor communication for different departments and levels in the company, up to the VP level.
- Analyze large amounts of data in conjunction with business insights to provide conclusions and recommend strategies to be used with category team and collaborative planning team.
- Lead category team on special projects, reporting needs, and ad hoc requests to accommodate a rapidly changing business environment.
- Act as functional mentor to Inventory Planners.
- Responsible for creative solutions for problem solving within the Supply Planning function.
- 7 years of relevant work experience
- Inventory, Replenishment, Supply, or Demand Planning experience
- Experience with advanced planning systems
- Advanced analytical skills
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.)
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Ability to balance multiple responsibilities and reprioritize as needed
- Self-motivated and able to make timely quality decisions
- Ability to build relationships and work in a collaborative, cross functional environment
- Lead independently through influence within functional area and possess the ability to set strategy and a course of action
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MBA
- SAP (ECC/APO/IBP) experience
- Retail or Wireless Industry experience
