Job Description
Job Purpose/Summary: Responsible for oversight of the Company budget and cost control functions, supporting the USGAAP financial close and regulatory filings and in other special projects as needed.
Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for the quarterly, annual and long-term budgets and forecasts
  • Responsible for capital planning
  • Monitors and analyzes the company's financial and business performance, credit metrics, capital structure
  • Has a thorough understanding of the company's business, strategies and financial results and projections and is able to communicate these topics clearly, accurately, consistent with GAAP
  • Supports the development of presentations to the board of directors and needed
  • Supports the financial strategy and Financial Planning analysis functions
  • Supports Regional Director of Finance in preparing accurate, complete, and timely regulated financial budgets, forecasts, financial statements and PUC filings
  • Identifies opportunities and potential financial strategies to improve the company's cost structure/financial performance and position
  • Prepares quarterly FPA reports and other PUC filings, as required.
  • Uses technology and process improvements to streamline and automate processes, capture efficiencies
  • Keeps current on financial and material operating activities of the company
  • Provides staff with training (including implementation of new procedures), direction, guidance and feedback to ensure a motivated and productive
  • Provides research, analysis and reporting related to general ledger
  • Coordinates system upgrades and enhancements.

Supervisory and Leadership of Direct Staff

  • Lead and manage department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.
  • Processes performance evaluations in a timely, effective and fair manner.
  • Directs, motivates and develops employees for maximum performance.
  • Establishes goals, monitors progress and results of direct reports.
  • Addresses inter- and intra-department training needs and counseling, as needed.
  • Performs special duties and other projects as assigned.
  • Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, mathematical and organizational skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of corporate finance, the principles of accounting and their application
  • Ability to manage subordinates in an effective manner.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting and state federal law requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work with all levels of the organization
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers and software programs, with strong Excel skills.
  • Ability to be detail oriented and multi-task.
  • Must be able to work positively with all levels of the organization in order to achieve continuous improvement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position generally requires a bachelor's degree in business, Finance or related field along with at least ten years of experience. A CPA license is preferred. Minimum five years of supervisory experience required.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is mostly performed in a normal office environment. Regular and predictable attendance is a requirement.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands or fingers; handle or feel; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The workday usually has a high number of interruptions and priority changes necessitating the need to remain flexible and focused in order to accomplish tasks.
