We have an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Environmental Manager in Salisbury, MD. The Environmental Manager will ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulatory programs for the ZCR Complex Region. In this role, you will provide environmental permitting and environmental program technical support for facility operational managers and supervisors. Environmental permitting, reporting, sample collection oversight and/or sample collection of wastewater, stormwater, fresh water, and other industrial waste management activities are key job expectations. This position is responsible for environmental metrics collection and reporting, and root cause analysis of system upsets. Practice 100% compliance objectives and safe work practices in all things.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze Perdue Environmental metrics data for Scorecard reporting and communication to Perdue Farms. Identify areas for facility improvement. Communicate and educate the facility on process improvement on these items
- Secure and maintain compliance with all assigned facility environmental permits, plans, and other required documents from federal, state, and local agencies. Manage permit renewals as assigned
- Execute policies, procedures, and environmental reporting systems to ensure compliance with permits, plans, and other regulatory obligations
- Provide environmental education to associates including quarterly meetings with each facility manager to review air permit compliance status, sustainability, and metrics data status
- Work closely with the Agribusiness environmental team to implement programs and initiatives to provide continuous improvement and environmental stewardship and sustainability within Perdue AgriBusiness operations including Green Team and Facility Sustainability Programs
- Prepare and generate reports, analyses, forms, training materials, and presentations as directed by Manager
- Manage housekeeping and Spill Kit inspections for the ZCR Complex
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager
Minimum Education
- BS Degree (Environmental Science, Engineering, or Biological Sciences) AND 5+ years of field experience in the environmental field
- 3+ years of applicable work experience in an environmental field may be substituted for a BS Degree
Experience Requirements
Experience researching and applying local, state, and federal environmental regulation
Understanding of standard software applications including Microsoft Excel spreadsheet development
- Strong communication, math, organizational, and analytical skills
- Visual opacity certification or ability to pass opacity training within 6 months of hire
- Familiarization with air permitting recordkeeping and compliance, wastewater recordkeeping and compliance, groundwater withdrawal systems, environmental metrics reporting, waste minimization practical skills, hazardous and universal waste management, communication with regulatory agencies
- Valid driver’s license
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Able to move freely throughout AgriBusiness facilities to include climbing vertical heights (0 - 150'), carrying tools and equipment (0-50 pounds), exposure to extreme temperatures (0-100 Degrees Fahrenheit), humidity, (0 - 100%), noise (50db to 100db) and chemicals (SDS sheets available). Must be able to wear protective equipment to include self-contained breathing apparatus. Able to communicate on the telephone and use standard office equipment. Required to travel to remote AgriBusiness facilities.
