Sr. Engineer
The Sr. Engineer of Batching and Processing Operations applies standard engineering techniques to design, analyze, test, maintain, repair, or improve products, components, or assemblies. Analyzes, develops, and evaluates batching and thermal systems for all processes utilized by Niagara. Improves and maintains current systems; visits systems in the field and manages projects. Applies engineering techniques and analyzes within the scope of the assignment. Mentors and creates training programs for other engineers.
Essential Functions
- Streamline processes, improve efficiency, enhance overall performance, maximize yields, reduce scrap.
- Create and manage systems to streamline development and management of aseptic and hot fill processing specifications, beverage sterilization methods, and batching operating procedures.
- Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously across various plants.
- Coach and mentor engineers from the batching and processing operations team in various areas of batching and thermal beverage production.
- Create troubleshooting guides, job aids and SOPs as required
- Develop methods to track sterilization diverts and create process improvements to address root causes of diverts.
- Develop diagrams and other visual aids to explain complex processes to management, engineers, and plant personnel.
- Map Batching process - conduct Time Retention Studies
- Evaluate batching and thermal equipment performance and root cause of production stoppages
- Develop and apply technical knowledge and establish credibility with technical audiences to benefit customers and the company.
- Create detailed technical reports and business presentations on suggested action path
- Translate data and compile results to make clear recommendations for improvements in productivity, yield, and product quality and plant and consumer safety.
- Manage company and vendor confidentiality and intellectual property.
- Help manage and maintain batching and thermal recipes for all processes at all beverage facilities.
- Lead batch and thermal trials and commissioning for new products
- Mentor junior and incoming new engineers
- Travel requirement of at least 50% is expected; some international travel may apply. Company pays for travel expenses.
- Experience with aseptic/hot fill beverage processes and batching procedures is required.
- Work at plants to observe, report, mentor, and communicate best practices. Communication with all levels in the organization is required.

Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications:
- 6 Years - Experience in aseptic production
- 6 Years - Experience in Position
- 4 Years - Experience managing people/projects

- Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ Years- Experience in aseptic production with Tetra Pak processing equipment
- 6 Years - Experience managing people/projects for aseptic and hot fill processing

The Engineer of Batching and Processing Operations is expected to demonstrate:

- Strong attention to detail and organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project, Visio and Outlook
- Proficiency in PLC, automated controls, Jumo and Tetrapak HMI (preferred)
- Able to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and piping diagrams.
- Able to set tone and drive pace on projects and make flexible adjustments to direction, as needed.
- Travel to plant sites (typical 2-3 days) and otherwise work from home office.
- Must have internet connections and ability to train/attend meetings remotely from home office. Laptop and VPN will be provided by company.
- Train / mentor others remotely through virtual conference calls (ex. Teams, Webex)
- Work in the plant may include standing for hours, walking, hot/cold plant environments. Must wear plant PPE for food protection and safety while at plants.
Education
- Minimum Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other related field
- Preferred:
- Master's Degree in Engineering, Business or other related field
Certification/License:
- Required: N/A
- Preferred: NPMP, PE, Six Sigma Green or Black Belt, Lean Manufacturing
