We are currently looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer with MR safety experience for Medical Devices to join our Neuromodulation Engineering Team in Rice Creek, Minnesota. A Day in the Life
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will work with a team of Engineers and Technicians to develop and bring new products to the market. The focus of this role will be to lead MR Safety Development and Test for Implantable Devices such as Neurostimulator systems for Deep Brain Stimulation, Spinal Cord Stimulation, and Sacral Nerve Modulation. MR Safety Development includes knowledge of MRI Standards for Active Implantable Medical Devices (AIMDs), Test Method development, bench testing, in-vivo testing and testing at commercial MRI scanners, data analysis, technical reviews, and report writing. You will take ownership of every aspect of MR Safety assessment for Implantable Neurostimulators. You will have responsibility to innovate, apply technical expertise, and provide technical leadership to a team of Electrical Engineers and Technicians.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to
- Provide Technical Leadership on MR Safety Development and Test for Implantable Medical Devices.
- Provide Electrical and Radiofrequency (RF) Engineering skills to design, develop, characterize, and verify MR Safety in new product designs.
- Fundamental understanding of MR induced gradient and static Magnetic fields, and associated MR safety design for Implantable Medical Devices.
- Work closely with MR thermal safety Design Engineer to Verify/Validate Multi-Physics based Medical Device and lead heating Models.
- Work closely with other design teams (Electrical, Systems, Firmware and IC Design) to root cause design issues, create test suites, characterize, and ultimately Verify Electrical designs.
- Analysis of product performance using DFSS techniques.
- Design and execute test methods to characterize MR Safety and verify adherence to Standards, Product, and Systems requirements
- Validate test environments comprising custom RF equipment, software, and test methods.
- Interface with certified test houses to verify/certify to global regulatory standards including ISO 14708-3, ISO/TS 10974, IEC 60601-2-33, etc.
- Work under minimal supervision.
- Ensure understanding of all quality policy/system items that are personally applicable. Follow all work/quality procedures to ensure quality system compliance and high-quality work.
- Ability to work with others internationally and travel globally.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or technical discipline required
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience
Nice to Have
- BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering
- Medical Device experience
- MR safety experience for Medical Devices
- Experience with verification and validation of class III medical devices
- Experience developing automated test benches
- Experience validating test scripts, methods and systems
- Experience in Hardware integration of RF subsystems
- Experience designing analog and digital circuitry on custom PCBs
- Working knowledge of RF simulation tools such as HFSS and Maxwell, or similar

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico.
