Summary: The Senior Electrical Engineer is part of the operations and technology Team. They will assist in reviewing electrical systems as part of plant development projects. This Engineer will apply technical knowledge and expertise in support of electrical system projects including repair, modernization, safety and operational improvement, and capital planning. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of and experience with electrical distribution equipment, service transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, distribution system layout, and process control systems.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Reviews of existing assets’ electrical systems
- Support arc-flash remediation projects from scope inception to active construction
- Engineer and implement solutions to correct deficiencies identified from system studies
- Equipment selection as part of a capital project development and design review teams
- Generate equipment specifications for standardization across network locations
- Evaluate system/equipment failures and collaborate to determine root cause
- Perform field work facilitating and advising internal company and contracted personnel
- Coordinate and collaborate with multiple fieldsand different levels of management
- Provide technical support and training to others as needed
- Will routinely work around electrical systems with high available fault currents, high (arc) incident energy, and shock potential
- Technical support for cogeneration project development, construction, and commissioning
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Extensive knowledge of National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E
- Solid understanding of common electrical systems drawings and documentation, such as electrical plans and elevations, conduit and cable schedules, one-line diagrams, MCC and switchgear layouts and details, electrical panel schedules, wiring and motor-control diagrams, schematics, P&IDs, lighting plans, specification sheets, and motor lists
- 10+ years of experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Personally, committed to working safely and maintaining a safe working environment
- Excellent written/verbal communication and positive interpersonal skills
- Well-developed independent judgment and problem-solving
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively prioritize multiple ongoing tasks
- Deep understanding of process improvement techniques with the ability to and experience in applying these to continuously facilitate change and continuous process improvement.
- Task-oriented and self-motivated with the ability to function without direct supervision
- Requires a valid driver's license.
