Job Summary:
This position is responsible for leading and managing an experienced EHS & Quality team. The successful candidate will use safety and quality metrics to drive focused initiatives in each area. They will be responsible for a team that consists of 3 direct and 2 indirect reports. A high degree of independent work ability and individual initiative will be expected in fulfilling the requirements of this position. The Engine Repair division follows ISO 9001:2015 standards and international, federal, and local regulations for EHS. Key responsibilities of the candidate are to champion desired safety culture, reduce risks, eliminate incidents, and manage compliance with ITW for our facility located in Solon, OH.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leads and manages company's EHS & Quality functions in accordance with corporate policies and procedures to meet company's business requirements.
- Implements and administers established health, safety, environmental, and quality policies, procedures, and practices to meet requirements supporting short and long-term business needs.
- Ensures connection between EHS & Quality functions and supervises their joint work to assure compliance with organization and government environment, health and safety standards.
- Reviews new equipment and processes with Operations for potential hazards and recommends modifications before introduction.
- Leads incident/injury investigations across the facility utilizing team members as necessary.
- Sets pace, direction, and strategy of department.
- Develops talent in order to maximize individual, team and organizational effectiveness in meeting company goals. This may include selecting and on-boarding talent, communicating effectively to foster a culture of engagement, cascading vision, creating goal alignment, and coaching through feedback, development planning and performance management.
- Collaborates with employees and managers to identify and correct potential environmental, safety and health hazards within the Solon facility.
- Prepares governmental reports and participates in representation with outside agencies.
- Maintains the Quality Management System for compliance with customer, ISO 9001, and government requirements and assures that the QMS is continually improved.
- Assists with managing the internal audit system and completing audits to submit corrective actions to members of the management team.
- Works cross-functionally with Operations (Manufacturing, Sourcing, Purchasing) to oversee customer satisfaction, supplier audit, and enterprise external metrics.
- Assists with advanced troubleshooting on external and internal issues such as customer complaints, process deviations, incoming raw material checks, etc.
- Presents quarterly quality metrics to the leadership team and finds opportunities for improvement in the data.
- Additional duties and projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years' experience in Safety/Quality processes.
- The candidate must have a safety focused and technical mindset.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards.
- Ability to train and mentor subordinates to maintain a strong team.
- Capacity to maintain a level of confidentiality required.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy and organization skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently/independently with minimal supervision.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven portfolio management and project/process management experience.
- Business acumen and excellent presentation skills (to customers, vendors, senior internal staff).
- Experience in the Manufacturing Automotive industry.
