The primary purpose of this role is to move Lowe's import product from overseas markets into the United States by managing the flow of product into Lowe's Regional Distribution Centers, Coastal holding facilities and 3rd party transload providers.
Key Responsibilities:
Manages the processing and flow of import product through overseas consolidation, coastal holding or import warehouses and cross dock transload facilities. Either operated by Lowes or by selecting party providers who operate them on Lowe's behalf.
Develops and executes strategies that deliver transportation cost savings while enhancing supply chain continuity and on-time delivery performance.
Directs all areas of transportation across a defined geographic location including safety, freight pay, supplier performance, regulatory compliance, budget, staffing, equipment, documentation, and customer service
Develops strategies and tactics to optimize logistics programs, lead time and reduce costs associated with the handling of product and optimize transportation efficiency
Defines policies & procedures that ensure optimal performance for transportation, customs material transfers, pull systems, shipping receiving and distribution systems for all company locations.
Partners with Global sourcing team to negotiate contract rates and services with global carriers, 3PL providers and regional trucking companies. Make recommendations on ways to improve efficiencies and drive continuous improvement. Implement carrier revisions and transitions based on annual negotiations, service concerns, etc.
Establishes and develops overall transportation operating metrics to improve the flow of product through the supply chain and improve the overall utilization and customer service.
Collaborates with other departments to integrate logistics with all business processes including merchandising, stores, supply chain operations and vendors
Leads the implementation of appropriate Transportation Management System(s) that optimize cost, service, visibility and operational efficiency.
Supports the sales and product teams in bids for new business, providing input on rates, modes, distribution points, timing, and the like to ensure accurate information for business decisions.
Manages international supply chain security and compliance with Federal agency (U.S. Customs) laws and regulations
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree Transportation, Logistics or related field
8-10 years' experience in international logistics
5 years of leadership experience
