YOUR ROLE : Lead the U.S. Commercial Marketing efforts for the Oncology Therapeutic Area, with responsibility for design, development and execution of the marketing strategy for launches of oncology products and for driving revenues of in-line brands after launch. Provide strong leadership, excellent judgment, daily active participation and engagement to maximize business opportunities through programs, products and services that drive the appropriate use of EMD Serono oncology products.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, develop and implement marketing business plans and launch initiatives.
  • Identify and develop top talent: define clear objectives, allocate resources, monitor activities, provide development opportunities, conduct ongoing performance reviews and provides coaching to staff.
  • Foster innovation in sales and marketing approaches and practices.
  • Identify national and regional opportunities and barriers to ensure success.
  • Collaborate with managed markets teams on product and customer strategies to support brand value propositions and secure market access/formulary acceptance of products.
  • Provide strategic planning for market analysis, forecasting, business plan development, new product market analysis, new product business plans, and managed care program development.
  • Work closely with legal and regulatory to ensure compliance and regulation policies are kept current and followed by sales and marketing.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate relationships with key opinion leaders, medical associations and outreach organizations.
  • Manage the budget and interface with Business unit controller.
  • Participate in business development due diligence and new product development.
  • Provide leadership and focus to define and assure delivery of key business objectives related to Oncology USA Business Objectives and Corporate (Global) objectives.
  • Collaborate with other therapeutic areas to leverage marketing expertise and programs as appropriate.
  • Partner with corporate public relations and communications to ensure consistent and accurate external messaging.
  • Develop and execute marketing projects with vendor agencies from concept through implementation for the full product lifecycle. This includes development of marketing tools, programs, and services that fulfill brand strategies.
  • Play an integral leadership role in co- promote relationships as appropriate
  • Lead the Marketing team's development and implementation of live programs, collateral materials, teleconferences, speaker training, key opinion leader development, slide development, and competitive responses.
  • Work in close collaboration with sales management to insure successful implementation of programs, tools, and services with consistent marketing messages.
  • Conduct field visits as necessary to evaluate effectiveness of marketing programs, tools and services.
  • Build relationships with key internal and external customers.
  • Evaluate on an ongoing basis, core strategies, programs and results of our competitors and communicate this information within the team.
  • Partner with designated customer associations, both professional and consumer to ensure strong knowledge of their goals and vice versa.
  • Manage all market, advertising, and promotional programs within corporate, FDA, OIG, and PhRMA guidelines and within approved budgets.

WHO YOU ARE:
Minimum qualification:
  • BA/BS required
  • Minimum of 10 years brand marketing experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry with increasing magnitude of responsibility
  • Product launch experience as a (Brand Marketing) Director level or above in the US required, preferably in oncology
  • 6 or more years managing, leading and developing people required with a proven track record of building high performing teams that consistently drive results
  • Experience managing vendors and contractors
  • Strong understanding of current legal and regulatory environment a must
  • Current understanding of pharmaceutical promotional rules and regulations
  • Experience working in a global environment
  • Experience managing a multimillion dollar budget
  • Proven track record of effectiveness as a leader who obtains results through positive actions
  • Ability to continuously demonstrate company core values
  • Ability to access and influence a variety of functions throughout the organization
  • A high level of confidence when speaking and the ability to motivate and develop followership
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to demonstrative creative and innovative strategies for business development
  • Ability to access and influence various functional areas and motivate groups to actions
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to translate medical information into succinct and impactful marketing messages
  • Collaborative work style and familiarity with core operating function (sales, marketing, regulatory, legal, medical, global marketing and co-promotion partners)
  • Ability to work in a high functioning, fast-paced, global business environment
  • Must possess the ability to multi-task and have superior organizational skills

Preferred qualifications:
  • MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred
  • Experience in oncology preferred
  • Previous pharmaceutical experience in Market Research a plus
  • Previous pharmaceutical sales experience a plus
  • Experience with a Co-Promote, Joint Venture or leading across companies a strong plus

ADA REQUIREMENTS
  • Normal and routine office duties
  • Position requires both domestic and international travel up to 50% of time.
