Job description

Works closely with the VP, Global Brand Marketing and Communications, to develop the brand's strategic PR direction and directs the day-to-day execution of Global Public Relations brand initiatives to increase brand awareness and affinity for Celebrity Cruises. This position oversees and is the head of Global Public Relations and communications activities for Celebrity Cruises. The Sr Director, Public Relations and Communications is expected to be a senior leader and decision maker on the most important communications strategies and challenges involving the brand. The Director has significant discretion in personnel matters, budgeting, and agency direction for the brand, and is accountable for delivery of many of the company's most important and high-profile projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and manages the global Public Relations and Communication strategies and tactics that drives off of the brand's global marketing strategy.
  • Establishes goals and priorities for multiple subject areas including oversight over such areas as brand communications, media relations, crisis communications, digital/web/social media communications, brand reputation, and/or employee communications.
  • Leads multiple communications global teams on the development and execution of their annual operating plans. Oversees the planning activities of communications personnel up to and including the director level. Provides senior brand management with counsel on these plans and initiatives.
  • Leads a hyper focus on PR and Communications data and analytics to optimize PR and Communications efforts globally.
  • Builds and maintains working relationships with significant media, with an eye to being able to call on those relationships at important junctures.
  • Builds and maintains working relationships with relevant corporate, global and brand management teams. Serves as an effective go-between between global communications teams and senior management.
  • Leads development and execution of multi-million-dollar budgets for brand initiatives.
  • Represents brand and, if needed, serves as leader on important cross-disciplinary teams, including global teams.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with global consumer and trade media.
  • Collaborates closely with global social media teams on strategy and campaigns.
  • Builds strong relationships with key internal team leads in marketing, sales, onboard revenue, hotel operations, newbuilds, and global offices to ensure consistency of brand messaging, companywide and globally.
  • Leads and collaborates with main global PR agency to leverage and maximize product publicity and promotion. Partners with agency to collaborate with local PR agencies in core global markets.
  • Collaborates with guest communications developing proactive and/or reactive statements for global crisis and/or operational challenges.
  • Leads global PR and communications content strategies and tactics
  • Plays a leadership role in personnel recruiting, development and evaluation, including the development of management talent. Mentors effectively. Leads by example.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
  • Bachelors degree in Communications or like field
  • Masters degree a plus
  • ~15+ years of Global Public Relations experience for major consumer brand or agency or both
  • Proven leader with experience managing global multiple projects and working with global and local PR agencies
  • Must have experience working with global markets
  • Strong global media relations and writing skills
  • Strong experience developing and executing on unique communications content that deliver results

FINANCIAL/QUANTITIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for development and oversight of multiple global subject area budgets
  • Must prudently manage expenditures on multi-million dollar projects
  • Evaluates best and most efficient use of direct reports, dotted line direct reports and outside resources on significant projects
